Given that the first reply say "sounds like an Iraqi problem", it doesn't sound like a debunked point to me.
Liberals wanted out of Iraq and they didn't care about the consequences to Iraq or the region. That indifference to possible consequences is bad. Not the same as wishing things would go to hell. But I don't view it as much better.
I thought detecting design wasn't science. I guess that only applies if we don't like the implications of a possible "yes." Otherwise, it can be science.
This may not apply to you, but I really dislike it when people bring up Bush when complaining about Obama's spending.
First, a lot of conservatives and libertarians didn't like Bush's spending, even at the time.
But even if they did, I found the following analogy useful: if my wife overspent consistently while shopping, does she lose the right to be upset if I lose the house and our retirement nestegg in a drunken weekend in Vegas?
2) Oceans operate on different time scales, no? So is "pretty immediate" geological time or something or a day or so?
3) Could be problems with this point based on 2. And by "trend" what are we talking about. There doesn't seem to be much of an upward trend lately. So if you are thinking the last couple of years have been on an upward trend, that's wrong. If you expand that timeline, we may still be on an upward trend.
4) "The only thing we know"
Given the lack of ability to put past weather information in a predictive model and get accurate results, I would say we don't know much at all.
My climate scientist friend I once spoke to almost 10 years ago now was more skeptical. Even if C02 does what you say, are there feedback loops that mitigate the warming? Cloud cover, stuff like that. We don't know.
6) You don't know 6 is true at all.
7) While I remain skeptical of global warming, I want to get off foreign oil in general. So may I propose a workable solution that many environmentalists don't like: nuclear power. Cut the red tape and streamline the process.
My father died of aggressive cancer a year after a kidney transplant. If they found a way to stop immune suppression after a short period, that would be wonderful.
If you took reports from major websites (Google, ESPN, Yahoo, MSN, etc, etc), I think that would be the best metric for filling in any gaps.
That would give you a percentage of an OS actually used.
Oh, numbers are objective. But raw facts do not come with their own correct interpretation.
Well, ego.
But, really, who cares? Any right thinking person knows some mistakes were made. The deal with Oracle is done.

They like it, they're not gonna crack.
Same here, but I don't see it now. Every time I reloaded slashdot I was a different user.
And they really didn't care how many Iraqis would die if we pulled out of Iraq.
The problem with wanting a collapse is that they'll somehow pin it on capitalism (ie freedom) and then proceed to reduce freedom.
The worst kind of slavery is the one you choose for yourself.
No, Zeppelin just leaves them Dazed & Confused.

After the Republicans won control of Congress, his long-term planned budgets never attempted to balance the budget. Just make the deficit less bad.
The Congress, at the time, wanted more deficit control. Revenues also grew faster than expected.

It may be a joke, but it funny because it strikes a deep truth. We would be better off with Congress doing as little as possible.
People want something and they don't want to feel guilty about it. So they make up justifications in their heads to make them feel less guilty.
As others have said, not like the price is not a justification for stealing. But I'm sure someone will come up with something.
I forget the details, but the ability to tax items with use tax is set by Congress.
Don't forget that corporate taxes ultimately trickle down to us in the form of higher prices.
Conservatives and libertarians don't define taking other people's money as virtue. Doing good things with your own money is considered virtuous.
"Worse, 22 percent of IT admins surveyed said that savings from PC power management 'flow to another department's budget.'"
In other words, they aren't incentivized to care.
Chalking everything up to quantum mechanics is a result of quantum mechanics. Didn't you know?
How many legacy (retirees) costs does Tesla have compared to GM?
How many union work rules do they labor under compared to GM?
It takes GM more money to do just about anything.
causes partial blindness. But, mmmm, delicious.

Not trivial to implement. Is the concept itself worth a patent?
I don't drink caffeine due to a kidney disease I have. I watch my blood pressure so I don't drink any caffeine.
Once you don't have caffeine for two weeks, your tolerance is basically zero. You can have a little bit of caffeine and it will have a large effect.
Obama voted for FISA while in the Senate. Were people just hoping he didn't really mean it?
Look, the handwriting has been on the wall for a while. He's a politician from Chicago.
People went all crazy about him without pausing and realizing he is still a politician.
The Greed Factor is the thing that is getting this thing done. Google wants to sell advertising. Having all the books helps them do this.
And they provide a good service for humanity.
But I don't think they should get sole rights to orphaned works, but they get the advantage of being the first company to decide to do it.
Primarily because they have the money and resources.
