    Could you provide us with falsifiable predictions that global warming theorists have made?

    Specifically, predictions which are measurable, have come true, are based on the underlying science, and aren't intuitive.

    Something like "given x amount of C02 and y amount of sun activity the global mean temp will be z over this period of time."

    I honestly haven't seen that. Until I do, I will continue to remain skeptical about the underlying science. There are way too many variables involved for me to have confidence that the scientific community has reached a definitive and correct answer.

    I really don't associate really nice GUI and Unix, so I don't consider it very Unix'y.

    But that's one of the reasons I wanted a Mac. Unix plus a nice GUI.

    I don't think anyone claimed that OS X was or would be going forward perfect. That doesn't mean that it is not well ahead of Windows in terms of a secure design.

    At the most basic level, you cannot see causation (see David Hume). Correlation does not mean causation, but correlation is all we have to go on.

    Sometimes causation is a correct description of the relationship. Sometimes it is not.

    Like anything there is probably a variety of causes. Lawyers & lawsuits. Regulations. Lack of political and public will. Cost due to distances and size of country. Expectations.

    When times were good, state governments spent and spent and spent. Spending cuts are painful, politically and otherwise, so they need to raise more revenue.

    Unlike the federal government, they can't borrow without reasonable limit or fire up the printing presses. But also unlike the federal government, it is easier to move to another part of the country than outside the country itself.

    So they'll try to tax things like downloads as opposed to a general hike on income taxes, which are already high in NY State (correct me if I'm wrong).

    They work when the vast population takes them, since the disease won't be easily spread. But if there is a large portion of the population that isn't immunized, a lot of children with immunizations will get sick.

    I forget the term for this, if there is a term.
