    Projector =/= good gaming experience.
    Im not sure where this is coming from. I bought a mitsubishi 720p project for $800 over a year ago, and aside from a few key difference its pretty much equivalent to an lcd tv.
    The main hassel with a projector is that you need a sound system and you have to deal with light levels.Keep in mind that whatever your wall/screen looks like is what blacks are going to look like.
    I was worried about bulb burn out when I got my projector, but out of the projected 2000-3000 hour lamp life, ive only clocked ~650, so in my case ill likely replace the projector before the bulb.
    If you can take care of all that then its basically a 90+in lcd tv for a fraction of the cash.

    Some people mention resolution concerns, but for console gaming almost no games render at anything above 720p. Even games like gta4 that support 1080p just upscale.
    If 1080p movies or PC output are a requirement then theres always 1080p projectors, their still around $2k but that price has been dropping quickly. I assume if youre playing Crysis at 2560x1600 that price is no object.

    Actually, any hearing test on a PC (assuming youre not a decked out audio engineer) is highly inaccurate.
    Trying playing a sweep from 14khz-22khz. Can you hear the whole thing? If so, its more likely that your machine cant accurately reproduce high frequencies.
    I have played a sweep on numerous high end, new machines and all of them began producing erroneous and completely audible tones from ~15-16khz on.
    The only setups that did produce accurate sweeps were my home stereo, and a PC using an edirol external card. So unless you've dumped extra cash for the sole purpose of quality sound, chances are its the computer crapping out.

    zero, and I mean *zero*, copy protection of any kind
    I'd argue that it was more like .01, but their copy protection was memorable if you encountered it.

    One of the most widely used illegal distributions was dubbed DaJackal. New players with this release (who had neglected to properly configure the game before going online) could be easily identified by the altered default player name "DaJackal". A few mods (notably Shifter and sub-variants) even included code which would automatically kick any player with this name attempting to connect to a server running the mod. Similar code was included in one of the later official game patches, which would kick the player and then send the following message: "The FBI has been notified. You better buy a legit copy before they get to your house." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starsiege:_Tribes#Piracy

    Lydia Fairchild was pregnant with her third child, when she and the father of her children, Jamie Townsend, separated. When Fairchild applied for welfare support in 2002, she was requested to provide DNA evidence that Townsend was the father of her children. While the results showed Townsend was certainly the father of the children, the DNA tests indicated that she was not their mother. This resulted in Fairchild being taken to court for fraud for claiming benefit for other people's children or taking part in a surrogacy scam. Hospital records of her prior births were disregarded. Prosecutors called for her two children to be taken into care. As time came for her to give birth to her third child, the judge ordered a witness be present at the birth. This witness was to ensure that blood samples were immediately taken from both the child and Fairchild. Two weeks later, DNA tests indicated that she was not the mother of that child either.

    Am I the only one ...who thought this game was average? Possibly. I think the best criticism is that its homogeneous, but it's also short enough to get away with it. HL2 as an example, is a longer game and consequently requires varying styles of gameplay to stay interesting. Whether this makes it a better game is questionable. A key selling point for me is immersion, I can't think of a game thats done a better job at establishing mood and environment. Interestingly enough, the story is almost entirely optional, if you dont bother to listen to the strewn about tape recorders, then you'll likely wonder why anyone is excited about the games storytelling. As a final point, people approach the game in very different ways ... while talking around the office I was surprised that none of us had remotely similar play styles; possibly due to personality or simply the gene-tonics/plasmids that were available. My point is a game that allows people to go their own route is rare, even more so in a homogeneous FPS.
