though your chances of getting hit by lightning decrease drastically if you aren't on flat land in the general vicinity of large metal poles (read: a golfer)
how much will you have to pay for the plan without the contract, though? and add the cost of the laptop... it all boils down to why you want the netbook in the first place: to use wireless (cellular) internet, or for word processing, etc...
I have Alltel. I didn't realize this (and they won't tell you this unless you ask), but you can tether some cell phones to laptops with USB cords (ebay) and use their software (makes you enter your number) to connect to Alltel's EVDO or 1xRTT (map)... Best of all, you can get an unlimited contract for $30 a month (way cheaper than buying one of those standalone things). Also (and I don't know how well this will work for others), I connected anyway and it takes time out of your anytime minutes (or night/wknd if it's those times).
as for being a weed out course, i think anatomy/physiology is a weed-out course for handling the copious amounts of knowledge, whereas organic chemistry is a weed-out for thinking, calculating, etc.
i think it might be helpful to know why/how drug interactions work. for example, i once asked my father (a doctor) why it's bad to take doxycycline with milk, and he knew right away.
that is a great idea... but it's only nonpolar things it can absorb. if it's e85 they're transporting, only 15% will be recovered, and that will all be gasoline (the rest'll just get the fishies drunk)
but if it did pick up polar compounds, it would also pick up water
i went on a cruise and having photos seems quite regular for regulating getting on and off the boat. i can understand China's point of view of trying to keep out bad people. though it raises moral concerns, don't forget that there's a big chance for terrorism--especially with the protests to china. i'm not saying that it's a good thing; i'm just playing the devil's advocate-- i don't want big brother either, unless it's in the hands that i voted for.
Pie? Pie = pi + e = ~3.14 + ~2.72 = ~5.86
And if the internet can't find it, then it probably doesn't exist.
Nonsense! I've read all about it on Wikipedia!

go figure, a site called "down" is down...
It conspicuously says nothing about whether you can apply a backlight to it.
But front-light readability is great for us Slashdotters who go outside and work :)
Agreed. And sometimes (though rarely), I think some comments should be rated less than -1.
Welcome to 1984
If this were 1984, then there wouldn't have been much of an election for him so speak out in.
This seems like a fairly blatant attempt to enforce separation between the macbook and the pro.
....as if color weren't enough
at least we know that there aren't moths up there

This is slashdot, I don't think 0 gravity is the problem...
the part about this comment that i found funniest is the fact that it was rated "insightful" and not "funny."
yeah, wasn't there a couple awhile back that sued google about this?
oh, and another little tidbit for those who don't know, sodium polyacrylate is what they put in diapers to absorb all the water
furthermore, why don't we take the oil out of our hair and use it as fuel?
that'll get you stopped up! anyway, i'm not a materials scientist. (i'm a future materials scientist :))

p.s. never eat sodium polyacrylate.
the only good reason i can think of that they should ban "obscene content" is because it uses unnecessary bandwidth. but other stuff does much more.
but i wonder whether they would block bittorrent, etc...

i spend more time slacking on slashdot than i ever have on solitaire
