Making and drinking beer was extremely common in the ancient world - the Water was often full of parasites and disease and the process of turning water into beer killed most of them, this was "Small Beer" i.e. with a very low alcohol content, and everybody drank it rather than water....
In the ancient near east they drank Honey Beer (Mead) which is also slightly anti-biotic.....
Beer : contains alcohol - which kills many water borne pathogens, is made by boiling water, which kills most of the rest
Medieval Europe and colonial North America drank large amounts of "Small Beer" Low alcohol beer, instead of water for precisely this reason, it was simply but very effectively abiotic
All the Nubian's added to this was that they stumbled across an ingredient that made it anti-biotic as well...
In the Ancient Near-East (Sumeria/Babylon etc) they drank Mead - Honey beer that is also anti-biotic....
Instead of the customer suing Sony and having to wait months if not years for a resolution, and having to involve lawyers etc.... they pester the people they bought it from, who then can band together and hassle Sony...
Who is Sony going to listen to, a small band of customers who are suing them, or a group of retailers, some of whom some of their best customers ?
The UK and European still holds Sony accountable, but stops each customer having to approach Sony and then sue them individulaly...
Note customers have got refunds or partial refunds from some retailers already under this system.... whereas in Australia Sony does not have to pay anything?...
...and The Noonday sun is probably not overhead anyway
I live in the UK, I am 2 degrees off the meridian, It is summertime so we are on BST - So at noon the sun is 1:08:00 away from being overhead.. a few seconds is largely irrelevant at this point...
Guns are hard to get hold of (relatively) for anyone, and anyone buying or selling any weapon is very strictly controlled so all other guns are obviously illegal, anyone with a gun in public who is not in uniform is instantly reported to the police, and there will be a massive armed police response deadly force is almost always used
Criminals know that a) most people do not have guns, so they don't need one to overpower them b) if they carry a gun then they are more likely to get caught (police take gun crime very seriously), and when they do the punishment will be much tougher
Knives are a problem but not as much as people think...
The old phrase if you ban weapons then only the criminal will have weapons, is true but that makes them easier to spot, and a mugging is a statistic and will probably be followed up if the police have time, a mugging with a gun *will* be followed up and the gunman hunted down.... criminals know this and so only use guns where they have to (or if they are naive)

Flash is for Flash Video - Will soon (Hopefully) be redundant
Silverlight is for.....we nothing really
Both are blocked on all my browsers, Flash with Flashblock so I can play video when I want, Silverlight by not installing it...
Games are better played on the PC not in a browser, and I would not trust Silverlight with a Windows Machine, and it does not work properly on any other

I was doing Elementary Algebra with solving equations for 'x' from the age of 11 ~ USA Grade 6.......Your Ninth grade would be the equivalent of the start of GCSE's...beginning of learning for the final exams..far far too late
The new hard things we did at this time was Calculus, Boolean algebra, Set theory, and different bases etc... most of which could not be taught without algebra....
Because a surprisingly large number of internet users are blind or have poor eyesight, and your system would exclude them from facebook....Just like they are excluded from ING's website...
The problem is you can use this argument again and again to stop all exploration of any kind
What sending people does is make more people interested in space..
If you wait until we have spare money to do this, you will be waiting forever. We currently spend money on much less worthwhile projects, space travel and exploration is one way we can survive any ecological crisis
Hybrids have their place, as do electrics, as do pure gas...
Short commute - Electric (until they improve the range)
Town driving over the range of electric - Hybrid
- which is why the taxi's use them, large mileage at low speed/stopped
Long distance cruising - Hybrid
Power (for hauling, large loads) - Gas
- Hybrids just don't have the power, or if they do they are not acting as a hybrid often enough to justify it
But all these are for a "proper" hybrid, where the engine works in parallel with the electric (as in the Prius) not just to charge the batteries (as the Volt does)
The engine in the Volt is a dead weight in town, does not help at all, it only cuts in on long journeys where you are pushing beyond the range, so it runs the gas engine not where is is most efficient to do so but where it needs to, the Prius uses the most efficient engine at any time, cruising at highways speeds will hardly any fuel...
Go and see any interview of any astronaut no matter what they did in space they get the usual, "what did you do up there" as a matter of form but most of the time is spent asking "what did it feel like to be in space", "how did you feel when that happened" or similar
The astronauts do not go to do science or explore, robots can do that better more reliably, cheaper, and we don't need to get them back, astronauts go to experience it...

The USA has 0.75% of it's population in prison (and growing)
These people are often used as cheap labour in prisons
Prisons are generally considered unmanageable, contraband of all types is freely available and discipline is poor at best
When was slavery abolished in the US ?
So USB has reduced the connection types from 5 to 4 ....
USB2
PCIe
SATA
FireWire
USB3 is only likely to replace FireWire .... maybe ?
So 4 to 3 ....
Before USB
RS232 - Open standard
SCSI - Standard - No Pins
PCI - Standard
IEEE 1284/Parallel - Standard
FireWire - When available - Standard - No Pins
Where were all these non-standard proprietary connectors ...?
And is it just me or are many of these still around because USB2 does not replace them ...and USB 3 won't either ?

It's three ... there are three tectonic plates North American, South American and a separate caribvean plate
It depends how you define continent ...
Is India a continent (it has it's own plate), or sub-continent ?
BTW Europe is a region, Eurasia is the continent and always has been
And strictly speaking half of Iceland is in North America not Europe/Eurasia
It's likely to cost much more than a real keyboard,
Be slower than a real keyboard,
Cannot be touchtyped (no feedback)
So all the downsides of a touchscreen interface with none of the advantages ....
The Optimus keyboard had the right idea - real keyboard with reconfigurable labels ,,,,

Infringing a Trademark - Passing your product off as someone elses, or connected to someone elses
Infringing Copyright - Copying a complete or partial work without the artists permission
Infringing Patent - Using a design for an invention without paying the patentor
Trademarks don't protect inventors they protect company image
Copyright doesn't protect inventors, it protects artists works ...

The Civilians co-operating with them might be in more danger ... but the troops are in no more danger than they were (which is plenty)

If your drive to work and back is nearly 40 miles ... don't buy a electric or hybrid city car, it's not designed for it
If your drive to work and back is 10 miles this is ideal and will save you money regardless of tax breaks
If you regulary do journeys of hundreds of miles, get an appropriate car, at the moment this is a car with a conventional engine
