Because we all know how much conservatives love gay people and universal healthcare.
I don't know what kind of alternate reality you live in, but here on planet earth the affordable care act that passed in 2010 is not even remotely close to universal healthcare. All it did was make every person in this country into an obligate consumer for the health insurance industry, which still holds most of the power. It was the largest handout to big business in the history of the world.
As for gay people, what has Obama actually done for gay people? Saying his own views on gay marriage have "evolved" does not equate to actually doing something about it. He could at the very least encourage congress to debate a bill for federal marriage equality but has not done so.
In the end you're still voting for a candidate that will harm you
In the US, there is no choice. We have a choice between conservative candidates, and incredibly conservative candidates. Our current president is the most conservative president our country has ever had, and we will see candidates in 2016 who will probably push to be even more conservative.
I just settle for who will do the least harm to my future, my career, and my well being.
Honestly I'm not even bothering with the elections anymore.
You can make that choice if you want. You have the right to not vote if you want, but don't complain about what the politicians are doing if you take no part in selecting them.
As the wikipedia link in the summary points out, Prairie Home Companion is not an NPR production. While it is mostly broadcast on NPR stations (at least, in the US) it is not actually done by NPR.
I thought South Korea mostly welcomed people who were defecting from the north. If the North was trying to launch an attack of any significance I wouldn't expect the IR system would have a hard time identifying it.
Most of the ads that had celebrities in them ended up being for products I don't want. I can't really think of any that were interesting and for products that I have any interest in purchasing.
An argument has been made (by both myself and others) that at least one slashdot user is a script already. Not necessarily an intelligent one, but a script nonetheless.
Does it bother you that an argument has been made (by both yourself and others) that at least one slashdot user is a script already?
It bothers me only that I have no mod points to award to that comment.
Well, at least they can recreate the readership of/.

It seems that the Angry Birds iPhone covers, air fresheners, chew toys, fruit snacks, T-shirts, and cock rings sold at the local drug store have all been replaced by Duck Dynasty variants of the same. I took that to mean that nobody cared about Angry Birds any more.
Make them actually learn something while using the computers. Most library catalogs can be accessed with lynx anyways, and Zork will at least force them to read and write.
When you take down walls, you also lose storage space. This is important more often than you might think. You also lose privacy; while it may seem like reducing privacy could be good for keeping peoples' noses clean, it can make for a generally uncomfortable environment for occasional important necessities like calling your doctor to schedule an appointment.
the rumors have started up again, only this time Lenovo has come competition, as Dell and Fujitsu are now being throw into the mix as possible suitors.
Come one, that's just sloppy writing there. We can do better than "Lenovo has come competition" and "being thow into the mix".
Now, I don't blame logmein themselves, as what users do on their own is beyond the company's control. However, I found that a disturbing number of people who used logmein would setup their account to connect directly to an administrator login on their windows box; hence with one often rather simple password anyone could get full access to that box from anywhere in the world. It seemed to me that it was often used to circumvent security that was set up for good reason, and in so doing created nightmare situations for unsuspecting network administrators.
I suspect many of the people who were using it for free before won't be interested in paying for it, so having the free access go away immediately could be a very, very, good thing.
Uh, there are no games that use more than one Gamepad
You seem to be claiming that the gamepad is the main feature of the system. While it is significant, it is not the entire point of the system on its own. The absence of multi-gamepad games is not a huge detractor. And for that matter, it seems that the gamepad has been a slowing factor in production, as few (if any) gamepads have been available for sale on their own anywhere.
And there won't ever be.
That is a rather bold statement. The system does support 2 gamepads simultaneously. You could also do 1 gamepad + 1 wiimote with a classic controller for the same functionality (minus a second portable display).
You are missing the point entirely
Are you claiming that the gamepad is the point?
Also, there is a Madden game on it.
That is one sports title from a very large library that used be to developed actively for the original Wii. Where is Tiger Woods? Where are the NCAA titles? Where is baseball?
They are trying to compare the second year numbers of the Wii U to the first year numbers of the XBox One and PS4. Those numbers don't really make a lot of sense to compare. Nintendo can turn the Wii U numbers around quickly if they can get some good titles out for it - both of thier own design as well as from third parties - they just haven't offered a great incentive for current Wii owners to upgrade yet. If they can get EA Sports (amongst others) back on board for the Wii U they can get things going in the right direction again.
The AP exam rate for this course might not be a very good metric at all for measuring how many kids are going to go into CSci for their undergrad. When I did my undergrad I found that the AP credits I qualified for generally were only applied if they were for courses outside my major. Hence if you had a qualifying AP CSci score but majored in CSci it didn't count, while if you were majoring in something else it did.
What my high school classmates and I did with this information, then, was use it to justify taking AP tests in our non-major courses so we could get out of some of the LibEd coursework that would otherwise fill up our undergrad schedules when we could otherwise be taking higher-level math and science courses.
It's too damned expensive. Gas costs a lot more, maintenance costs a lot more, parking costs a lot more, and insurance is still heinously expensive.
Even the kids who are lucky enough to get their parents to pay for the insurance still are facing a mountain of costs. And in those cases, the kid's car insurance is often the easiest cost to cut out of the family budget when things get tight.
The main differences are that the F(n) keys don't work the same as before, and caps lock (which he admits is overused in discussion) is replaced with home and end keys (though caps lock still exists, just not with its own giant key). The vast majority of all typing actions are exactly the same as they always have been. If he's really concerned about being able to use those functions, I'm surprised he would be satisfied with the movement of a laptop keyboard at all; most programmers I know prefer the feel of an external keyboard for their professional work.
Will they take ownership of the issue, or continue to ask customers to pay for an entire new logic board when just the GPU fails?
That doesn't sound any different from any other manufacturer. The GPU on the laptop is, after all, soldered into the laptop motherboard. Even though is it "just the GPU" it isn't something that can be replaced on its own. I don't know why we should expect Apple to have a different standard for customer service and expected system longevity.
After all, we tell our students these days that condoms are less than 50% effective. Why bother making a better one when we're telling people not to use them?
I'm sorry, but what?! I have never met someone claiming to be a Ron Paul Libertarian (of whom I've seen many comments here on Slashdot from) express opinions that promote the military-industrial complex, the keeping of secrets of government action by force or the trampling of individual rights.
Some of those are not the fascist ideals I speak of.
The fascism that slashdot Paullowers promote is closer to the original ideals of fascism; ie totalitarian leadership with a greatly reduced ability of the people to express or seek their will.
However your notion of the military-industrial complex is not far from the Paullower ideals. In a Paul government industry would be the military. Industry would be free to pursue any goals they aspire to, including exerting physical force overseas. Currently our government has regulations to discourage companies from attacking other nations in pursuit of profit; under Paul and his Randian philosophy the gloves come off. Sure, he may be opposed to our country declaring war (as he doesn't want his tax dollars to pay for it) but if Coca-Cola wants to team up with Lockheed Martin to go sack Iran he would not interfere. It might not be exactly the military-industrial complex that we have now, but it would certainly win approval from a President Paul.
As for individual rights, the Paul doctrine calls for dismantling government to the point where your rights only go as far as your dollars. Paullowers on slashdot have even endorsed privatizing law enforcement and the court system, which would not hold well for people facing off against wealthier people or against corporations at all.
Conservative fascists hiding themselves as Ron Paul Libertarians would be like Neo-Nazi skinheads hiding amongst members of the Jewish Anti-Defamation League.
No. Ron Paul fascists just have a different idea of fascism, and do a good job of hiding theirs within plain sight.
One would have to be a fascist to have a problem with what this company publishing this information.
Which is exactly why many slashdot conservatives - many of whom are fascists under the guise of "ron paul libertarians" - would be against this company releasing this information. The partisan-driven world that many live in here on slashdot often boils down to "if the other guy supports it, it is evil no matter what", and by association "if someone who supports the other guy does it, I must oppose it and do the opposite".
For those not familiar with them, CREDO mobile is a carrier who donates some of their profits to left-leaning charities, causes, and social groups. They have often advertised their network on democratic underground, daily kos, and other democratic affiliated sites.

But can a chat bot plus big data really produce anything beyond a creepy, awkward facsimile?"
No, it cannot. Once you're dead, you're dead. Game over.
