Mixtapes. I fucking love mixtapes. DJ Crazy Chris' "Eminelton," Von Pea's "American Angster", Mick Boogie's "DILLAGENCE," Danger Mouse's "Grey Album," and of course Diplo's "Pricay Funds Terrorism" are some of my recent favorites (the last two are out there floating around on the internet if you look hard enough). Seriously. If the labels would release shit this tight, well, but they wouldn't, would they?

Come to think of it, why doesn't the military implement the card reader software themselves? Most of the readers I've see are simple USB devices...

Definitely. I love using Macs, but for servers, embedded systems, and field equipment, it would seem that Linux or BSD would be the better choice for the military.

Fat chance that'll happen anytime soon. The two major parties have absolutely nothing to gain by getting rid of a system in which they are both elected at nearly equal rates. They can fight with themselves within the confines of their tacit alliance, damn the People, to keep their money rolling in smoothly. This greatly saddens me. A model more like the UK Congress would do this country wonders untold.

Definitely would go with CC or CC+ or possibly PD if I ever get around to finishing some music ;) It's weird that they are calling it a protocol, though. Maybe I am missing something, but it's just a license, right? I noticed they provide some XML markup to define the terms of your CC+ stuff, but that's not really a protocol...

These are not mutually exclusive. The realm of spiritual inquiry should not be discounted because its methods run counter to the scientific method. Each is a response to different parts of our perception, and just because spiritual teachings can be counter-science does not mean they are useless. It is a false dichotomy to say they are incompatible in every way.

The only thing Java or C# really have going for them is mindshare in management.

C# has a lot of nice features (extensive API, large active development community, stability, etc.) I do agree that Objective-C is OO done right. I just wish it used a C++/Java/C# type syntax. All those brackets really annoy me ;) Objective-C is very powerful and has some really cool APIs, too (I especially like that the API include the passing of object messages to an instance across a network). I haven't had a chance to try out Mono on OS X, but it would certainly be nice to be able to write in C# and have it run on my Mac.
