    Theres plenty of ways to live with dial up: use a text only browser for websites when you dont need to look at the pretty pictures (slashdot).
    And play with your modem inits. This one lets me get 115200...

    On a 56K dial up connection yet.

    How did this get modded "insightful"? Where is your data to support this claim? Human society as I understood it from my anthropology classes arose from co-operation and collective hunting and gathering societies. Gee, we got all this from violence? Wowzers!

    Most of the hardware issues are solvable by using hardware thats known to work with BeOS. The same argument is given by linux devotees who say "thats not a real modem, thats a WinModem". The compatibility database for BeOS is pretty extensive. And older parts are cheaper so you can build your own BeBox. I did and I'm using it NOW.

    So you dont believe in the "Microsoft Tax"? Why do users have to jump thru so many hoops to use their PC if it was bought new with Vista installed? We messed up the install disks somehow that we are supposed to make after we bought it. If the HP laptop dies we have to do a magic dance and present 63 forms of ID that would satisfy Vogons just to get the DVD with Vista on it that SHOULD have been included when we bought it from the store. Now you know why people hate Vista and M$.

    Did you ever hear of the inocence project? More than 100 people have been exhonerated due to DNA evidence. The system is far less reliable than you imply it to be.

    The whole implementation of the TSA was economical vs effective. The way to protect planes is Air Marshalls with automatic fire arms on every plane. Thats too expensive. A few 8.00 dollar an hour TSA shmucks is way cheaper.

    Why not self contained hydraulic pumps in the heels of army boots that drive a small turbine when weight is transfered to the heel?
    That would require no extra energy expenditure. Assuming of course they were being worn on earth where theres some gravity...

    No, usenet had it wrong. The label is often applied to those of us promoting the unpolular opinion. I think there should be a minimum requirement for all people wanting to use the internet tubes: one year on usenet in the flonk or the nose.

    Its not just hotmail that dosent play well with alt OS's. AOL needs you to use the 'User Agent Switcher" app as well for their webmail to let you use it.
    I use BeOS and had to do that to get my email. Also when firefox "hangs" just press 'Shift' and click on 'reload' and it will load the page properly.

    So apparently no one has read the article on bradblog? The problem isn't fixed. Diebold has just substituted a jpg of a digital key in place of the original easily-made mechanical one.     Simply take the battery out of the cell phone and put it in when you need to make a call and take it out when you're done. The phone dosent ping the cell tower unless it has power.
