With the XBOX360 coming out in a few days shouldn't Microsoft think about offering Windows in 2 versions also. The XBOX comes in the basic $299(no HDD, extra cables version) and "normal" $399 kitchen sink version(w/ HDD and XBOX live mic). Microsoft could offer Windows as a stripped down (no WMP,IE,OE or Themes) version for free(or close to it) and the "normal version" for $89-129.

People don't trust MS as it is,(Prepare tin-foil hat) why do they think that ads served by them on an OS they have the backdoors to will be any different than having Doubleclick do it...............Oh now I remember they control Claria (nee Gator).

This goes along with the general "Pussification" of America. Keep the children safe, keep everything safe. Bah! Bullshit. When I was a kid you didn't HAVE to wear a helmet to ride a bicycle, now I'm suprised that you are allowed to take training wheels off before the age of 16.
Of course being shot into space is going to have a shitload of danger attached to it, people have always know this and it won't change until we get really good at it and completely understand what the how's and why's. The bicycle I had, I would always fall off of it until one day it just became 2nd nature. The Challenger and Columbia accidents were just that accidents, 2 losses out of 113 flights is not a perfect record but for 25+ year old machines it's pretty damn good considering what they go through on each flight. Come on people get to work on something new, we've learned quite a few things since the mid 1960's when these were designed. Just think of how much lighter these babies would be with new computers instead of IBM/360's controlling them.

We have to stop "putting helmets" on everything that is even remotely dangerous and get back to taking a chance or two.

How can the info in wayback.org or google be trusted ? You can make redirect pages based on googlebot or wayback that have nothing to do with what is really on the site.

In the article it is mentioned that vodaphone.com was taken by a squatter and they used wayback to show that her intentions were "intended to misleadingly attract consumers" ,what if she had WBM's bot goto a "nice" page and not the real site that case could have gone differently.

Quote : The parent poster is absolutely correct, R134a is a greenhouse gas. However, that statement should be qualified: it is only a greenhouse gas when it is released into the atmosphere. Modern technicians use recovery equipment to remove refrigerants from cooling systems (everything from your freezer to your central A/C). The refrigerant is either recycled, or disposed of properly.

This is true until the car hits something !
I realize that driving is a "non-contact" sport but if the front of the car gets sufficently damaged and the condenser purges then 134a has now made it into the atmosphere. Not exactly recycling the way it was intended !

I guess it really didn't take off though because I can't find anything on it at all (i guess I'll have to look through my 80's guitar mags)

I had also read the Joe Satriani and his producer are nuts about making a drum machine not sound like a machine. Most (if not all) of Joe's albums are done with Drum Machines, what they do is change all the settings slightly for each drum hit so they all sound different. So listen to "Satch Boogie" and hear how good a drum machine can sound.

P.S. - The other side of this is real drummers using electric drum kits. They will show off how bad you rhythm is if you don't play on the beat.
