    I gave up after fedora 10 to do anything on the OS is a major project. It's not a very user friendly desktop OS and app support is limited.

    As most people know Apple is BSD under the hood using Darwin as the core of Apple OS X. Apple borrows FreeBSD’s virtual file system, network stack, and components of its userspace. Much of FreeBSD now also forms the basis of Apple OS X and OS X Server.

    Apple needs BSD to survive they will bale them out lol. I do think that BSD is struggling with funding cause of Linux popularity boom over last few years. Linux has taken great strides to be come more commercial and get more support on server backed end with Dell, HP and IBM. I do not see BSD having big leaps like that plus they need a better PR rep. Every customer I go to ask for Linux because we are a Linux shop on our commercial side I very rarely see anyone ask for BSD support.

    I had an iPhone and I hated all the app restrictions. I am willing to deal with a little malware to have more open source phone. Plus 15% is not bad we have so many Virus ridden machines come in the store and they have Avast, Nortain or McAfee I really thing virus and malware detection is BS anymore.

    Ever since Netflix left Starz I think they have gotten better. When they had starz I still have DVD service cause there was nothing to watch on streaming now I ditched my DVD services cause there is just so much to watch on steaming.

    When it comes to a lot of Microsoft products there are cheaper products out there but people stay with Microsoft because of the support. How ever there are better products out there then sharepoint or lync. I know I read an article yesterday saying Microsoft is loosing SQL market share to mysql.

    Well I think issue with 8 is people are not desperate to get off 7 like they were vista. Twit talked about this the other day and even said that 8 is not the break out OS Microsoft expected it's not a failure but not what Microsoft expected. I am surprised to see the popularity of the Windows Phone taking off a lot of young kids enjoy the block style constantly updating with there friends social media streams.

    Both internet companies have been trying to reduce their reliance on each other, Zynga wants to start its own Zynga.com platform, and Facebook want to work with other games developers. This could be a very bad move for both companies as Zynga games is a big draw for Facebook and Zynga is now competing with other games and game sites. Zynga gets opportunity to operate their own standalone gaming website, but gives up its ability to promote its site on Facebook and to draw from the thriving social network of about 1 billion users.

    I am running a cent 6.3 box with ext4 and works well for me I have no issues with he file system. Starting from Linux Kernel 2.6.19 ext4 was available. Supports huge individual file size and overall file system size. Maximum individual file size can be from 16 GB to 16 TB Overall maximum ext4 file system size is 1 EB (exabyte). 1 EB = 1024 PB (petabyte). 1 PB = 1024 TB (terabyte). Directory can contain a maximum of 64,000 subdirectories (as opposed to 32,000 in ext3) You can also mount an existing ext3 fs as ext4 fs (without having to upgrade it). Several other new features are introduced in ext4: multiblock allocation, delayed allocation, journal checksum. fast fsck, etc. All you need to know is that these new features have improved the performance and reliability of the filesystem when compared to ext3. In ext4, you also have the option of turning the journaling feature “off”.

    I know Amazon has take some great strikes in the shipping aspect of prime. They have warehouses just for staging then they have warehouses all around the world the Prime Shipping is great but it was a major under taking in the fulfillment center part of there operation.

    You are paying for a better OS. You need no extras AV and office not needed overall just better software.
