The Space Shuttle tech is essentially 40 years old (if not older -- we've been using they same Nazi rocket designs since Nasa began). That said, they're China: why couldn't they build their own Space Shuttle faster, cheaper, etc?
I read they make a lot of money from the search box built into the gui, particularly Amazon.com. Every time you doa search of Amazon thru the FF search box, they get a kick back. I also think they get a kick back every time someone installs one of the FFs with Google toolbars that Google offers.
From the news casts it looks like all the cops and officials in Boston are a week away from retirement -- no wonder they didn't know what a Mooninite was! I wonder if the Boston cops have an old Space Invaders machine surrounded -- or maybe they're going to detonate some Light Brites at a local Toys R Us.
One of the few smart things Boston did in the past 100 years is not sign A-Rod. Yankees fans are loving this, I bet.
On my version of Firefox 2, the search box is actually longer and more prominent than the Location box. I've made the mistake myself. A Firefox plot to get more Adsense dollars. Who knows?
Americans are very forgiving in the long term. In the short term we're ready to fight at the drop of the hat (or swerve of the SUV, as the case may be).
I'm glimpsing into the future and seeing Sony finally collapsing under the weight of hubris and abysmal business decisions, probably before the price ever gets down to the $200 mark and I become moderately interested.
Frankly, I'm shocked that someone in New York or New Jersey would be involved with any crime what so ever. I live in New Jersey and I can attest to the fact that there is no corruption, everyone is polite, and it smells like roses.
I noticed that the height of these buggers (that's what I'm calling them) is limited to 157 pixels if you place them on an XHTML page -- even if you specify a different height. I'm sure there's a simple reason why. And the Pacman one isn't working in IE (I know, who cares).
Where I work we're supposed to write a test plan with the client's assistance right after the business requirements are baselined. We write our Unit Test plans before we start the high level design and programming.
I don't like it, but it seems to eliminate feature creep by virtue of the process.
Tricked sure, but I wouldn't call the trickees "suckers". "Suckers" implies the person is getting screwed over or taking a loss, which is not the case here. Being tricked into using Mac OS X is like being tricked into being a millionare or being tricked into being married to Jessica Alba, or something awesome like that.
And Frozen Bubble is available for Mac OS X, so I don't know what all the fuss about games not being available for the Mac is all about.
What's next: "P3P" Platform for Pornography Preferences? I can't wait to go to jail for posting a dirty joke on my web site.
Parents: please take some responsibility in parently your children. (Pumping your kid full of Ritalin and hoping for the best != parenting, BTW).
(Frankly, I wish there was a mechanism to keep people under 18 off my web site. It would save me a lot of frustration dealing with inane emails and blog posts, as well as kids hotlinking my images for their myspace accounts and other forums.)
Burn the Knoppix iso onto a CD and tell the nube that the need to have it in their CD-Rom drive when the boot up. Then when they say, "where's the E that I click to get on the internet", tell them Microsoft changed the icon to a fox humping planet earth. And you're done.
All the Fed does is spin and run interference for big business. Listen to what the government says and assume the opposite is true. And then either bitch about it, or invest in companies that profit off the government's spin.
Wanna get rowdy Gonna get a little unruly Get it fired up in a hurry Wanna get dirrty It's about time that I came to start the party Sweat dripping over my body Dancing getting just a little naughty Wanna get dirrty It's about time for my arrival
We use Websidestory's HBX product where I work. It's quite nice from a marketing standpoint. Technically, it's just javascript and cookies. Sure -- it doesn't work for people who turn off cookies or JavaScript, but those people are rarer than you think. One plus is it doesn't impact the click stream. An other upside to the HBX method is you get less false positives from robots and other machine visitors.
We also use redirects (CGIs,various J2EE dealies) -- that method is very labor intensive and it trashes SEO. It destroys SEO. And you have to dedicate many hours to weeding out the "clicks" from robots and machines.
This ping method might be used if IE adopted it, but it sounds like a pain in the neck -- we'd have to build a new app and tool for marketing to monitor the clicks.

If all the chatter about "Web 2.0" reinvigors interest in the web, and keeps us employed, I'm fine with it. There's always going to be the paracites, huksters and snake oil salesmen, and there will always be suckers to buy into it. Buddy Hacket said "I've had a few arguments with people, but I never carry a grudge. You know why? While you're carrying a grudge, they're out dancing."
There are people who think "Web Standards" is snake oil, as well. No me, but other people.

The difference between Slashdot and Fark is right now I would be posting a picture of the Crazy Frog.

Developer is to publisher, like an musician is to a music label. I get it. I learn something new every day.
Insomniac only puts out one game per year, but they're always entertaining and usually more creative than the average game.

"all binary" is journalist speak for "filled with Valtrex and Grey Goose".
Woman are denying me cervix all the time, why should firefox be any different.
Oh wait... denial of service! I need a better screen reader.

I forgot that the icon for Firefox (under Knoppix 4.0) is just the Earth (no freaky fox).

Jeeves got a job working for MySpace.
I'd used Trash 80's and Apple ][e's in school, but my first computer was sadly the Coleco Adam (Bomb). It lasted, oh, about a week.
