  1. Clever media misdirection! Male spiders screwed! on Giant Spiders Invade Australian Outback Town · · Score: 1

The Great Media Conspiracy would have us believe that the Australian Eastern Tarantulas are thriving. I would like to draw your attention to the grim reality that is being hidden from the public!

    1. The Eastern Tarantulas, instead of being referred to by their proper Phlogius crassipes name, have been given a bunch of condescending prejudicial nick-names like Barking spiders, Bird-eating spiders and Whistling spiders.
    Thats right - Bird-eating, not Allegedly Bird-eating!

    2. I also find it appalling that there is little to no mention of the plight of the male spiders. The fact that the females live up to thirty years, and the males only up to eight years is completely glossed over by The Media!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think its about time for some RESPONSIBLE journalism!

My wildly successful but bipolar Boss took this stuff to deal with his manic lows, and it he would become a zombie. Everything he accomplished as a businessman he did BEFORE taking lithium. I would rather see funding and energy expended to reduce suicides without "stabilizing" the humanity into a calm herd.

Would you really deny entry to millions of people that both yearn for a better way of life and are escaping certain death in their country?

Hell yes! Everyone can achieve a better way of life without breaking OUR laws! And the "certain death" is more than a bit overblown - I've been to Mexico doesnt sound like you have, its not a death camp. I have a bunch of middle class, educated people, in Mexico who are just like middle class people here.

Come on, we're better than that, aren't we?

Better how?! Is this guilt that is drawn on some superiority complex? That WE are soo much better than THEM, that they cant do without OUR help? Bit arrogant isnt it? That kind of condescension breeds both Racism and Whitey Guilt which is another form of racism.

Besides, the resl solution to the immigration problem is when Mexico has a higher standard of living than the USA does. Then they will just have to go back for work.

Ummm, no one is stopping them from having a higher standard of living, hell I wouldnt even care if they had a higher standard of living than USA - BTW many of them do. What does it have to do with them breaking OUR laws and sneaking into OUR country?

YES, there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, as a matter of fucking courtesy. Let me put in in the terms your average Slashdotter can understand - when you are beating off in your moms basement you have a reasonable expectation of privacy, even though you do not own the house and simply mooch off your parents, and when your mom walks in on you slapping it sideways you get upset. I understand and empathize with that, so please understand and try to empathize with me.
