Have you ever thought that they maybe just don't have the time or energy anymore to do that? That maybe they're just old? I assure you that people managed to find ways to get a lot of people together when they were young before the advent of mobile technology.
It enables offices with an Exchange server already in place that can't be easily changed to move to Apple machines if they pleased instead of being tied into XP/Outlook.
What do we have to gain? Robust life support technologies can be developed on Earth and tested in the absence of humans before we decide to commit money and lives to little more than a crapshoot.
Can this tell the difference between intoxication and merely having used said drug in the past couple of days? While cannabis may be illegal, a DUI should not be warranted if you happen to test positive, given the long time it's present in your bloodstream.
