> he days of paul revere are over so we can't ride through the town yelling...
Hmmm, well I suppose that's because we've moved beyond such slow-moving things. I think TELEVISION and RADIO could do the job a bit better than some dude on a horse riding past 40 million homes.
> why does the US have such a high incidence of homicide involving a firearm? > I'd say it isn't working.
If more of those people with guns trying to kill others had guns pointing back in their cowardly faces, maybe they wouldn't be as likely to try something again in the future? Homicidal maniac or not, most people don't like guns pointed (back) at them.
Slashdot: News for rednecks. Stuff that makes ya' Holler.
I dislike when people complain "waaa waaa waaa, this shouldn't be posted on slashdot, it's not news for nerds," but I'm human, damnit... I have the inborn right to be hypocritical.
I don't give half a shit about gun control, except that it is more attempts to take away our rights (not that I think anyone actually needs a gun -- especially the police, but that's not the point) Gun control is one of those back & forth issues that will not be unanimously "solved" quickly.
Hell, I might as well Submit an article entitled "Ask Slashdot: So, what do y'all think about that abortion thing?"
> A complex program like Quickbooks > but is complete business management system
Yeah, that's like saying pico is a complete word processor. Quickbooks is fine for small businesses, but thinking that it is a "complete" Business system is laughable. For COMPLETE business management, a company needs something like MAS/90 -- a REAL accounting program.
> anybody working for themselves and by themselves are not a business.
So, My father sells balloons for a living. He hires an employee, so suddenly he is a business. That person quits or is fired, and my father no longer has a business? Even though He had a "BUSINESS LICENSE" for 10 years before hiring anyone? Man, you need to think a little more about what you are saying.
I don't think it's all malicious intentions... There are computers I have wanted to break into just to see if I could. It's about learning and trying to accomplish something (regardless of the value of actually accomplishing it).
Of course, for some crackers, (possibly most of them, I don't honestly know) it may very well be a power trip of some kind. But to call all people of a group unworthy of life? Hmmm. I think humans are unworthy of life because as a whole they seem to delight in the misery of others (or maybe just misery for me) and are degenerates... Doesn't mean I'm right (which I may be).
Yeah, but When P2P'ing, you are taking up bandwidth that someone else is using. Not that I give two craps about other peoples' bandwidth, as long as I get my MP3s
If anything, he is TOO smart, since he knows multiple uses of the word threading. So, does thinking too much make you a moron?

Because those little bits of comet debris haven't got quite the mass (->gravitational attraction) that the earth does. Of course, this is just what I think the answer is; I'm no astrophysicistisicismist.
> US legal system doesn't protect everyone equally,
Note that I DO believe PanIP is a bunch of scumbags, but I disagree with this statement. Everyone has equal legal rights: If you, or the chocolate company had filed that patent you could do exactly the same thing PanIP is doing now. I'm not claiming you would, but that you could.
I only agree with this if the perpetrator is given the same conditions of anonimity, imagine sitting in a court room and being told that some unknown financial institution is accuseing you of breaking into their systems yet you cannot question them
AFAIK in the US anyone being prosecuted has the right to face their accuser. I think in this case the "secrecy" part would probably result in sealed court documents, etc. not an anonymous charge.
> If they ended up paying you more than you paid them, they wouldn't be in business, now would they?
Right idea, wrong conclusion. Insurance works because the money taken in from ALL the insured people is more than what is payed out to the ailing people who end up needing it. Depending on your illness, insurance could very well pay out more than you put into it.
What does liberal mean, if it doesn't mean the government doing things for you? Isn't that not taking responsibility? My impression is that liberals are like slightly more democratic socialists. I'm not insulting you for your choice, mind you... I'm just as right for being conservative (libertarian) as you are for being liberal.
Oh yeah, what an incredibly intelligent statement. If you have something to say, at least say something that can be backed up with a single shred of evidence, and isn't just some random "The world hates me/this person because..." bullshit.
It's not that liberals are more educated, but that most Universities hire very leftist professors, and therefore the liberal viewpoint (even extremist) is more often seen there and are encouraged to speak out more. Look where it got them in this case.
Unfortunately, the trailer trash DO believe. They are the ones who have been abducted and taken FAR PAST the moon (Or, they've seen the "Dark Side" of the moon...)

Another Clippy, just what we need.

That's what I was thinking too, I just didn't want to tell him what his preferences should be.

Sorry to break it to ya', but you are an anomaly of nature and will promptly vanish. Tough luck...

There is no law that I know of that _requires_ death as punishment, so all they have to do is extradite you while promising not to kill you.

Maybe so, but Dan Quayle invented the internet. Just ask him.
When did he claim that? The only fool I ever heard say that was Gore. Well, and DARPA -- those fools said it too, but they were the right fools.
