I fear just what kind of pre-existing crapware this will enable on the iPhone.
none. this isn't a mobile safari flash plugin, it's just another way to compile your standard iPhone-App. Apple won't be accepting "pre-existing crapware" any more than they do already.
seriously: please show me the counterpart to iphone/android that works as flawlessly as email works compared to facebook.
and don't say openmoko -- I already own one, and it sucks monkeyballs as an everyday phone.
yes, opiates are physiologically addicted, and there were no doubt people who abused opiates and were addicted to opiates even back then. but when it is cheap, legal, and widely available, opiate dependence does not cause major social problems.
Alcohol is cheap, legal and widely available here. And it does cause social problems. Every couple of weeks the news are reporting about children starved to death and left alone by their drunk parents, let alone all unreported cases of abuse. While I'm generally against prohibiting anything, I can't say that drugs (including alcohol) do not introduce major social problems.
(I can only speak about Germany, though)
Woohoo, now I can even pay twice for my games, along with buying dvds (and nowadays blu-rays, of course) of my old vhs tapes and mp3s of my cd and vinyl collection.
I am really afraid of DRM giving Silverlight power and more distribution (and vice versa). While Flash has (or will have?) DRM capabilities too, another "competitor" on the DRM market could really make things even worse than they are.
why do people always recommend PHP at just every fscking occasion, admitting that it's "somewhat ok" and "will be better soon"? heck, if there are other languages around that are better than "somewhat ok" and are so right now, why (the hell) should one pick PHP? And why do you consider a language which looks like C a good language to learn programming with? Not that it's particularly bad, but even nowadays babys don't pop out with a preinstalled sense for C-like syntax.
I just aim well;-) Works for me, as I do not normally use the "scans" for re-printing or archiving. Can't tell you some good tool for this job, sorry...
opera mini depends on java, while opera mobile is neither free as in beer nor free as in speech. thus, while there is no java on openmoko, these are no decent solutions.
the webbrowser currently available through the repositories is quite a pain in the ass. the rendering is butt-ugly, scrolling is only possible using scrollbars, zooming is only possible using the tiny zoom-buttons and the keyboard didn't show up when I focused the textfield at google.
but I'm sure things will get better soon.
I just use the Google Reader mobile webapp, which really works like a charm.

Wintermute? Is that you?!
Will it be Mini-USB or some proprietary connector?
This sounds like the first new MS product that's interested me in a while.
What a coincidence, that one of Microsofts more interesting products' sole purpose is ironing out their own fail :-)
> And I thought Google wasn't evil...
you made my day...

but... but... it just works!!1 right...?
Can't be any worse for them than the OpenMoko-phones, which work with all SIM-Cards I have (three different german providers).

I would like to see/hear/read that talk/paper. Could you perhaps provide a link? thanks

...and even the standard DisplayPort would fit into a notebook.
yes, and if they are willing to transport such a behemoth laptop, there will also be some space left for a seperate digitizer.
To be quite honest, I am terribly wrong.
There, fixed that for you.

seems like minimo is already runnable under openmoko: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Minimo

I use my phone's camera as a mobile scanner. works perfectly well.
okay, I just realized that even if the freerunner had a built-in camera this would be impossible...
now that would be impossible, the neo freerunner comes without a camera.
Since the review is slashdotted already, many here among us seem not to think so...
Drop them at whatever delta you think prudent.
Which, for the sales people in charge, is infinitely close to zero.
