    Reinstall Ubuntu. Re add software sources. Can't find XBMC anymore! WTF?!?! It was worked last time. Reinstall ubuntu, still not working. GRR. Reinstall Ubuntu. No dice. anyways on the 5th time I got it working again. Still not sure where I went wrong.

    Sounds like you forgot to update the package list. I have had my own trouble with using linux for a HTPC. I was not very impressed with MythTV and my TV-card did not work very well in linux... I will probably try again in Mythbuntu 9.10 or so.

    This is not strictly true. You have to be able to provide ALL source code. I assume you could just point those who want the source code to each projects webpage though.

    I do not believe that his point was that it was the pedestrians fault (although it did sound a bit like it); just that if the pedestrians were more careful they would be safer from idiotic drivers. If there is a car running a red light you should not attempt to cross the street (even if you have a green light)

    My first linux install was when ubuntu 6.06 was pretty new. I guess I wanted to try something new on my laptop and a friend recommended it. I've been using Ubuntu on my laptop ever since. My home-server started out with debian for a while but I prefer to be a bit closer to the cutting edge so now it runs xubuntu.

    My laptop boots ubuntu in ~10 seconds on a Lenovo 3000 n200 =). Of course it uses an SSD as its' root dir

    It depends on the voter turnout but if the same number of voters who voted last time votes this year ~100k votes are needed. Also the pirate party is a much more mature party this election so I think they will have a slightly higher member to voter ratio. Of course on the flipside I think there might be a higher turnout in the EU election as well since some people might have started realizing how much power EU has.

    Yes but maybe the argument that people who do it mainly do it because they want to try before they buy still hold.

    PS. I'm not saying that I believe it. It will be interesting to see the stats in a month or so.

    I thought this was an interesting question so I looked up. The number of members in 2006 was 9154 (source: http://forum.piratpartiet.se/FindPost138694.aspx (In Swedish I'm afraid)
    Sverigedemokraterna 3627 members (April 2009) 162,463 votes - 2,93%
    Feministiskt Initiativ 1700 members (December 2006) 37954 votes - 0,68%

    Those two are the only parties that got more votes than the pirate party that didn't make into the Riksdag. It would seem that the membership count in pp has doubled since the election.

    It's not our job to come up with ways for artists to make money. They will have to do so themselves. And I do not think killing the internet for the benefit of artists is a good thing.

    It's not illegal to name something after a "crime"... And even though a large part of the torrents on tpb are for unlicensed works (Peter Sunde claimed it was a minority and the prosecution could not disprove that =)) tpb the reason for tpb is not simply to share unlicensed works - It's to share EVERYTHING! The name was just a big "Fuck You" to the big media companies

    Don't know about boinc but Folding@Home doesn't step up the frequency (assuming it runs on default priority) (I'm pretty sure it doesn't on linux anyway - no clue about windows)
