Yeah windows IE7 is better than Netscape 4.0. A like product should be compared to a like product.
They don't compare it Chrome.
Chrome is insanely fast. Chrome is all I use now for browsing. I can middle click on my "daily" folder which spawns 12 tabs. All tabs are loaded in less than 2 seconds.
Early government estimates are showing 212,000 jobs could be created by this plan.
A great government estimate
Government Estimate: NASA director James Fletcher's remarks referred once again to the shuttle's "modest budget" and reduced complexity. The plan was to make 48 flights a year (.pdf) at about $50 million per launch ($250 million in today's money).
The result
Roger A. Pielke, Jr. has estimated that the Space Shuttle program has cost about US$170 billion (2008 dollars) through early 2008. This works out to an average cost per flight of about US$1.5 billion
I don't expect anything to be saved, but I do expect it to be near impossible to get any medical insurance or care if your 25 years old and have a genetic defect of some sort.
I think having data is ALWAYS good, but allowing discrimination against the sick will cause the sicks quality of care to decline --- which causes societal problems.
I've read about this in multiple places today and I'm really surprised this is such a big deal.
A network decision is being made at AT&T to best serve the current customer base. Old tech is being worked out of the network while the new tech is being worked in. Edge will still work, it just won't have the best band anymore. 3G is becoming the hot service to have and more and more users are coming while edge users are dropping off.
Edge users are equivalent to VHS users. The technology has moved on, you need to move on or deal with slightly degraded service.
This is the only logical path, the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few or the one.
As for 1% - that's simply a lie. Many federal programs including various parts of medicare and medicaid are welfare. Anyone arguing it's 1% of the budget is a liar and/or a poor sophist.
If you really believe this, and are against the Constitution,
The constitution didn't provide for medical care or welfare.
The modern welfare state: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, farm subsidies and other so-called assistance programs for the needy, the downtrodden, and the sick â" funded through taxation.
But did the Founding Fathers intend for a government-provided social safety net? The evidence clearly says no.
You would fit in better in china. I applaud their ability to execute the criminals that you fight to keep alive. I think every liberal should be offered the chance to let the death row criminal they're pining for move into their guest room permanently to preserve their life.
Now it's not society carrying the load. It's the person crying for a child molester or a murderer. Let him massacre your family, you'll be better for it.
To summarize: SS is among the most efficiently-run government programs, and actually props up the general budget rather than dragging it down, at least for the next 30 years or so.
I love paying for people to sit home on disability and for other peoples retirements.
You ever eat food that didn't kill you ? (FDA), or drink water? How about housing the hard core criminals in prison?
Does it snow in your area? Plows are a nice thing to have.
I pay for all my food. Which in turn pays fee's to the FDA. I also pay for my water. Criminals should be shot and the family should be charged for the execution just like in China. I also paid for snow removal when I lived up North.
I've read that when things go wrong its a pig to sort out.
See any other linux distribution. I've run linux since Redhat 4.1 in 1997 and I've slutted around with slackware(which is my fav for simplicity), debian, Suse, Caldera, and many others.
I've never run into a distro that ISN'T a pig when something goes wrong except SLACKWARE. And slackware is only simple since it offers almost no package management and no autoconfiguration.
The easier it is the use, the bigger nightmare it seems to be when it breaks. See windows registry for another great analogy.

"SINCE YOU DON'T HAVE THE LOGS YOU WERE REQUIRED TO KEEP TO PROVE YOU DIDN'T ACCESS THAT CHILD PORN... ON YOUR OPEN NETWORK... YOU ARE GUILTY"
"I ask the jury, why would he not have logs -- if he were innocent?"
Oh yeah, this is next great thing from the US Senate. You don't get a 22% approval rating by doing things right.
Choice is good and the best licenses will grow to popularity unless tampered with by an outside force.
Hence the GPL is doing quite well. It does what most people want -- it allows for your work to stay free as it was intended.
If something better comes along, it may be used. Sort of like evolution -- survival of the best fit.
I guess he really is.
It feels like you are invoking the fallacy that most of us think we are above average. Most people aren't significantly above average.
You're above average if you complete all your work that is assigned and don't lie to peoples faces.
It is sad that's all it takes to get on top, but it's true.
Enjoy the bottom.
In the 90s it was backhoes. Now it's giant cable-eating squid. What next, volcanic eruptions? Really, the problem is two-fold -- first, cables break
Great point. I suggest lasers.

The amazon downloader also loads your tracks into itunes. It's pretty fricken seemless.

Finally, someone I can agree with.
I'm pretty sure the airport can generate anger, fear, and frustration in most people.
How good can this really be?
Hey, if our sales go up by 10% we'll float you a $50,000 hold back check.
Welcome to modern sleazy business.

You're "pretty sure" because you're too lazy to look it up, right?
Take a look at the chart linked.
Mods like paying taxes.... I wish I had a trust fund to!

I'm pretty sure that over 50% of my federal income tax and SS is for worthless programs that benefit the lazy.
they still have to pay for other peoples kids via taxes to get the worthless education currently being provided.
Worthless, LOL -- it's subpar and possibly terrible, but worthless?
We need a voucher system to let the market help manage these terrible schools.
Also, my child will be going to private school in the near future.
WOW! Something that my tax dollars pay for that MIGHT actually benefit me? Neat-o.
I mean welfare and social security is great, but besides the roads and military it would be nice to get some value back.
I wouldn't call Debian "nothing".
Good point, it was a slow moving ugly mess not suitable for normal users and not suitable for average users. :-)

Ubuntu has become the defacto Linux distribution for the common computer user.
It came from nothing to something in a very short period of time.
Kind of like Obama.
I hope Obama performs as well as ubuntu.
it fits with my anti-incumbent strategy since congress has been such a disaster.
I agree, vote them all out on a regular interval.
Term limits help dampen corruption by not allowing it to fester for years.
I might look again, thanks.
This is wrong on so many levels.
What's really wrong is the level of content available. This service has less movies than TNT on the weekend.
I tried this a few months ago and was very disappointed.
So now you can watch 100 old movies on a MAC....
