    I'm as suspicious of politicians as the next guy BUT Taking complaints from your citizenry and acting on them is kind of in the job description.

    Besides, it might of occurred to the company in question, that taking payola to take down what might be considered liabelous posts exposed them to even more liability since they could no longer claim a lack of resources was the primary holdup. Suddenly they became paid editors. Maybe they should just use a moderation system if they want to ignore it and a subscription model if they want more money.

    It distinctly avoids setting a precedent. Prosecuter's are not judges. If enough people leaving flaming bags of dog shit on his doorstep (or the Mayor's), he'll get the message and tow the line. If that doesn't happen, then I guess he will have made the right decision.

Which also happens to provide 10% less energy - (which means you'll have to burn that much more of it) While increasing the amount of emission by products.

    Seriously, most people never figure it out. DON'T BORROW MONEY IF THE COST TO BORROW IT IS MORE THAN THE COST OF INFLATION. Now go back and recalculate your payback period. (and if you start using NPV in your calculations, then I'll just tell you not to drive)

    Even at $130/1b. Your not going to make a lot of money getting uranium from the sea - not to mention the thermodynamic break-even point. It would be nice to have a little energy left over to use on something else besides a perpetual motion machine. Almost any alternative energy source - including oil shale will be fine for another 200 years. And if we haven't figured out fusion by then, it's going to get very very cold...

    I can guarantee you can find a 5cm glass mirror superior in cost, quality and usability than this thing. Adaptive optics have come a long way toward eliminating the need for a theoretically perfect parabola. If your only practical outcome is a 100m zenith scope on mars - we already know how to do that cheap enough. So if you find anything in the article(s) that show a real advantage, clue me in. I do see they have come up with new ferromagnetic carriers that are kind of cool. Can anyone explain what percent improvement they get with this design vs. segmented mirrors or even radios and is it enough to offset the response times?
