Yeah, but WinXP doesn't tell you if a floppy is read-only (write-protected) until after you try to access it. Floppies are usually RW disks, so the assumption is that they are RW until proven otherwise. But most CDs are CDRs, not CDRW (anectodal statistics). Therefore, the assumption is that you can only write to them once. If you screw up you've ruined a $.50 disc, so they put in an extra confirmation. It also gives you a chance to decide whether or not to close the session or the disc. In a perfect OS, you could set the default & disable the prompt. If you limit the choice to 1)having a confirmation, or 2)not having a confirmation, it's better to have it.

Ok, I like the other guys' answer, about wearing both & flipping it. But I think that would suck. I don't mind wearing one, but two at once just isn't going to work for me. So I use condom 1 on girl 1, condom 2 on girl 2, meanwhile having sent girl 3 to the store to get more condoms:)
I was wondering what happened to edrugtrader. That sucks. I had just discovered it like 2 days before it went down.
ObRecipe: 1 box Kraft Cheese & Macaroni:) 1 small can of tuna (I prefer the water kind instead of oily), 1 can of english peas and 1 sm can of cream of mushroom soup. Cook the mac & cheese according to box. While you're waiting, strain the tuna & the peas. Once mac & cheese is ready, throw everything else in & heat it until it's hot or you think it's done, whichever is longer. Eat what you can, save the rest, it heats up well.
It's the only damn thing I know how to make, but it convinced my daughter that I'm a good cook:)
That's true. I sometimes wonder if the problems I have with Mandrake's update tool (I rarely get it to work properly, but that may be a problem w/ the mirrors) are some subtle hint that I need to upgrade. And I usually do.
Well, I'm going to assume you meant winXP like some AC, although IIRC, they have an embedded version. But they wouldn't necessarily need to run a version of Windows to play.wma, they just need to license the appropiate code to use it (codecs?).
I sure hope this review is accurate. As a computer savvy non-programmer, I've been having trouble wrapping my head around Learning Perl. I think a lack of formal education is really hindering me at this point (go to college, kids!). Maybe this book will help out, I used to be pretty good at C64 BASIC:)
Interestingly, though I meant for this argument to be pro-Linux, it looks a lot more pro-Mac.:) Linux window managers should stop emulating MS Windows so damned much. I use the command line, and the computer semi-illiterate don't know how to use MS Windows anyway.
You know, that's a really good point. I've been lusting after a mac, but just can't afford one (to the specs I would want). Currently I'm running Mandrake w/ KDE, but I'm really not completely satisfied with it. And the main reason I want a Mac is for the OS. If there was a distro (or whatever) that mimics MacOSX, I'd use it in a heartbeat.
Writeback kicks ordered's ass. They do warn you about it, though:
However, it is clear that IF your server is stable and not prone to crashing, and/or you have the write cache on your hard drives battery backed, you should strongly consider using the writeback journaling mode of Ext3 versus ordered.
I didn't see where "notail" made much of a difference on ReiserFS, though.
I thought it cost something like $20 to go to a rave, that's not free...

When I was in highschool, a friend of mine gave me a picture of her in the park. She was off center and some guy was in the background. Several times I considered taking scissors and cropping that guy out. After all, I didn't know him and he wasn't nearly as cute as she was. Fast forward a few years, and I'm scanning my pics and posting them to my site, and I see the picture of her. Only this time, I recognize the guy in the background. He's a friend of mine now. So you never know what'll be important or interesting later, and you don't always need to wait a few hundred years for your perception to change.
No, but I'm sure someone there has a "friend" who'll do contract work. I'm not saying this will happen, and I don't really think it will. But we're talking millions & millions of dollars here. Billions possibly (I don't think OpenGL hurts them *that* much, but anything's possible). Are you going to try to tell me that there's no way that kind of money can influence people to do things they might not ordinarily do? People get killed every day for much less $$$ than that. Money makes people do strange (& sometimes bad) things.
I know you were being sarcastic, but there are some truly evil people out there, who do need to be killed. What about a guy who rapes and murders an infant? Is there anyone who'll defend his right to do so? Fuck that, he's evil & deserves to die. Slowly, painfully, and messily in my opinion, but I'll settle for quick & painless as long as he's dead.
There are many other (types of) people who are evil & deserve to die, but I just picked one that I thought most sane people would agree with.
You wouldn't have to replace the entire cable. It's just about as easy to butt-splice a break as it is to terminate fiber. *note: terms might be less than accurace, it's been a couple of years since I was certified for fiber*
Well, I'd like a quicker & less stressful (for a non-gameboy user w/o calluses on their thumb) way to scroll through my phonebook. There's one practical use for ya...
So if they let Joe Loser get off with a warning because he was speeding, it's ok, they're preserving our tax dollars. What happens when Joe Loser loses control of his car & plows into a school bus stop?
What about the relatively minor crime of fraudulent driver's licenses? They didn't get all bent out of shape about that (here in TN) until they discovered that the terrorists were using them to purchase plane tickets.
So they let the little script kiddie go, no monetary damages, right? What happens when the same script kiddie starts using all these boxes he's rooted for a major DDOS? Think they'll get excited then?
None of this is really relevant to the story, though...
ha ha.. it looks like many of my machines already had "ChallengeResponseAuthentication no" for at least the last few months. I'm going to go beat myself in the head with a brick now.
You need to get a girlfriend. Then *she* can smack you w/ a brick. Seriously, my gf recently started to carry a brick in her purse. Now if I get out of line she just tosses it from hand to hand & I straighten up real quick:)

For some reason the thought of having jet fighters and missiles running VB doesn't make me feel safe. Quite the opposite...
Yeah, but that was a looooong time ago. Now I'm pretty much limited to basic html and minor modification of javascripts. I try, though :)
