    Well, you *could* charge more. Give your employees a bonus or something...

    I ran into a similar thing when I was looking for a job (a few years ago). My friend suggested I up my asking salary. So I added 50% on it. Then when they negotiated me back down 25%, we both felt like we got a good deal :)

    I disagree. I think that good/high quality .mp3s (and that includes proper id3 tags/filenames) are the only thing that will convince people to pay for songs. People will put up with a lot of quality issues if it's free. If I'm paying for it, it damn well better be right. That's on a per-song or a subscription based model.

    I've downloaded Knoppix three times so far, and every time the md5sum is different. Different machines, different networks, and different mirrors. Once I burned it anyway, but that didn't work :) Plus, with the recent trojan (?) in a popular app's download has me concerned about the md5sum not checking out.

    Too bad, this sounds really cool.

    If the HSF is epoxied to the chip, try freezing it w/ a can of compressed air before you remove it. There is a good howto in the HardOCP forums.

    If I get to the article soon enough, I have no problems browsing at 1 or even 0. Do you have time to read 587 posts? That's how many this article currently has. And many times my mod points do expire.

    Although I haven't gotten them in a while, I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I stopped getting them around the same time I started metamodding.

    Well, you post at 0, he posts at +2. Rarely do I browse at less than +3, and I'm sure most who eligible to mod wouldn't browse at 0 either. Even if I have mod points, I can't. I tried a few times, but it was a futile effort.

    So that's why he got modded up and you didn't.

    In some ways, it really doesn't matter who you are and where you live. I'm sure they actually use the data they collect for more than junkmailing you to death. Your shopping habits, trends, ect. is the *real* valuable information. Your address is just a little bonus :)

    I actually upgraded my monitor (used 21") and my sound card/speakers, primarily for DVDs. Slapped in a Hauppage for cable, and I barely watch my TV anymore. My 6yo has pretty much taken it over.

    I never had a problem w/ the Virge line (well, other than their multihead non-friendlyiness). It got the job done for ~$25.

    Well, considering that McJobs are usually part-time, and minimum wage, he might not be able to afford to move out.

    Still, it's kinda like I told a potential roommate once, "It's kinda hard to score when you have to take a chick to your parent's house..." He ended up being a real good roommate (even if he still had no luck w/ the ladies)... And moved back home to his parents :)

    I gave up on DVDs under Linux. I'll come back in 6 months or so, and try again. I eventually got to the point where the only thing holding me back was actually getting the DeCSS plugin to work properly. Which I wasn't able to do. I'm not a guru or anything, but I'm definitely not a n00b.

    I really miss FAGs (Fun and Games), that used to be over by UoM. They had a decent selection of pinball, and other games I'd want to play. Plus, you could smoke & drink sodas in the gameroom. *That's* what I liked the best about it.

    I've been a Megatokyo fan for a bit, but here lately I've been seriously considering deleting the bookmark. I mean, I understand having a life other than the comic. I can handle the occasional DPD (dead piro day), or even DPW. But the comic seriously has not moved plotwise in months. It's gotten to the point of being ridiculous. Anyway, I guess that's what's been taking all his time away from the webcomic, he's been working on the dead-tree comic. More power to him. I won't follow along, though. I'll be reading Exploitation Now...

    I don't understand why they cap the uploads, anyway. Aren't most larger pipes syncronous (1.54up and 1.54down, etc.)?

    And if most people are downloading, it seems like there's a huge amount of upload b/w just sitting there, doing nothing.
