Somehow I don't think a GeForce 4 is old hardware. I have a GeForce 2, an ATI Fury Pro and an 8Mb Matrox; now that is old(ish) hardware by current standards.
That's hilarious! Especially the part saying "you repeatedly asked us to transfer ownership over the past three months" (words are my own). If this is true, then it shows what SCO has been doing is extremely, extremely immoral. They knew they had no basis for suing IBM and for demanding that companies license SCO, but they did it anway to try to make some money. All I want to know is, who's idea was it - Microsoft's?;)
I don't think there's neccessarily a lack of originality. I think it's more to do with the "suits" realising that they can make more money by releasing sequels to popular games as that "almost" guarantees solid revenue.
Who really cares about benchmarks? Personally I don't (that was a rhetorical question). So what if one card can do 10 more mega-flip-flops per microsecond than another one. I don't really care about getting an extra 0.00001fps from Doom3.
I don't believe claims anyway; ATI says their card is faster than NVidia's. NVidia says theirs is faster than ATI's. Bleh....
90% discount?! Now THAT'S a monopoly! I don't see Steve Balmer rushing to offer me a 90% discount on any MS products. Then again I'm not a city so no wonder!
For some reason it takes 5-10s to display the preferences window. When I change something like the fonts, it then take almost 20s for that window to close.
'He asked whether KDE people were saying "Gnu/Linux" or just "Linux", and Open Source or Free Software"
Anybody else sick of hearing him ask this? If he was meeting with KDE shouldn't he at least show some interest in the product? Personally I don't give a fuck whether you call it Gnu/Linux, Linux, Linus' Linux, Free Linux, Not So Free Linux or just plain old Linx.
And Windows NT/XP is a clone of VNS, which is donkeys years old. I can't believe he can spout this crap and have people believe him.
And to want to create a command line only version of Windows? Well isn't that taking the server industry back to the 60s? Oh wait no, that would be if he were commenting about Linux, Unix or VMS. Because it's a Microsoft product he's talking about, he can spin any negative into a major positive. Watch those share prices rise!!
I vote Steve Ballmer for the new post of Iraqi Information Minister! He talks just as much crap, so why not?
It'll take a lot more than a usable StarOffice to make Linux a truely viable Windows desktop alternative. It's still Geeky, designed by Geeks for Geeks, and the interface just isn't simple enough yet. They keep trying to cram too much into the desktop interface, and end up with information overload. Though I do think having anti-aliased fonts working right out of the box is definitely a huge improvement.
By not fixing it, they're trying to force people to upgrade to Win2k. "If they won't upgrade, let's force them to!"
Nah, I'm just being cynical, but I'm confused about something. I thought Win2k was based on WinNT? So how much of the NT internals were re-designed for Win2k? What I'm saying is, if it's not possible to fix it in NT, why is it possible to fix in Win2k if Win2k is the son of NT?
This has nothing to do with security and everthing to do with Microsoft maintaining market share by preventing the Chinese government from moving to Linux.
Maybe one of the Linux big-wigs (Torsvald et al) should contact the Chinese government and say "Here, use Linux. We give you the source code AND you can compile it into binaries!".
There's no way in hell that I'm going to download 1.3Gb just to play a game I already own!
Let's hope they plan on releasing the installer separately so I don't have to buy another copy of the game.
Where's the beef? Not in Alberta for sure. Heck there simply was no beef in this "review". I wouldn't even call it a review.
If I don't trust Microsoft with the security of my PC, why would I trust them with my home??
Given the state of the market and the fact that I'm unemployed, you do one of three things:
1) Put up and shut up
2) Talk to management
3) Quit
Simple
I presume they don't have support for Mandrake 9.1 yet?
How about we Slashdot SCO by getting every Slashdot member to sign the NDA and attempt to view the code in question?

Just another reason for the U.S. to hate Canada.

Has anyone seen or posted any 0.6 binaries that include Xft support?
Thanks

As much as I like the Lycoris distro, I hope they've improved the performance. It seems to run about 25-40% slower than Mandrake for me.

That's just my opinion
God these April Fools jokes just get more pointless each year.

I remember formal methods from University; one of my most hated subjects. Never touched it since.

It's sad when a person can get a harsher sentence for theft than for taking someone's life.
Didn't that Indian guy who was convicted of assisting in a plane bombing get 15 years for helping to kill 300 people?
*sigh* what is the world coming to.
