From what I understand, Roddenberry had an idea for a Star Trek series that involved blowing up the Federation, and an attempt to rebuild it. It was nixed, as executives didn't want to blow up the Star Trek franchise. So about 7 years ago, somebody took the idea, crossed out "Federation" and wrote "Commonwealth" instead, and called it Andromeda. Except for the last season, I thought it was pretty good.
I think registrations should be anonymous. I'm very much in favor of an anonymous Internet altogether, aside from who the domain registrar is. If the government has a problem with something, tough shit. They have plenty of ways to get what they want. They only need to know who the registrar is, and they can be served with a warrant for information on who paid for the domain. The registration contact info can be faked anyway.
Wikipedia is a little more than a bunch of HTML pages. From what little I understand, there's a massive database which composes Wikipedia, and there's a script which puts everything together into the Wikipedia we know and love.
The FTC page for the event ia here. Perhaps the editors need to use the preview button. Or should I say Perhapa the editora need to uae the preview button.
You actually got that pretty wrong. Picard and company used the moon to hide their warp signature from the Vulcans while the Vulcans were making first contact with Earth. They then created a portal to return to the 24th century, without using the sun. This happened in Star Trek: First Contact.
I'm not surprised that primates (and us) learn better when actively engaged in the material. I've always gotten far more out of classes in which the instructor forced the class to be engaged in the material/lesson than ones where a human tranquilizer of an instructor would bore us to sleep.
Maybe OpenOffice should try and arrange to have their products put on Windows computers. It won't cost manufacturers anything, and it won't have annoying ads.
Halvar was wrong for not having the correct visa. That being said, the government should probably spend their money going after the millions of people who come in illegally through the Mexican border, with the intent to stay a lot longer than a week, instead of a single German guy doing a little work and attending a conference. Not to mention, it is quite possible that terrorists are crossing the Mexican border to get in, now that we have 'no-fly lists' and 'watch lists'.
I don't suppose submitting your assignment in PDF format is an option. That's what I've been doing. Besides, that's considered to be the appropriate format for finished products.
1) Move to country with no Internet gambling laws
2) Start an online game like Second Life, but with gambling allowed
3) Profit!
Seriously, I think the only reason the government banned online gambling was because they couldn't effectively tax it.

I'm typing this on a Gateway, and am much happier with this system than I ever was with my Dell or HP.

One problem with the guns on the planes: if somebody puts a hole through the plane, or through some critical component, everybody could die.

The tubes are getting filters now. Must be to screen out all those movies streaming through them.

88.88% uptime causes less outage than 99.9%? I don't follow your math. Did you do it with an Intel chip, by any chance?
Still not as crazy as the gay bomb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_bomb
It's bad enough your computer could lock up. Now your shopping cart? How exciting will this be?
The FTC needs to let net neutrality through. If they don't, telecom companies will ruin the Internet.
Cut a pipe? I thought cutting oil pipes caused environmental damage. Besides, I thought ISPs only controlled tubes.
