IP piracy involves turning a profit on copyright works. you come over to my house and listen to some music I'm playing from a cd I bought you are not 'pirating' it although you are hearing it for free.
Now if you borrowed my CD, copied it, then sold the copy out on the street well then that's a whole different thing you're doing and that, therefore, is piracy.
Real money is created and controlled by the federal government - or: we the people. Fiat money is 'loaned' to the taxpayers through the conduit of the government using interest rates which makes it mathematically impossible to pay back all that is owed even if all that nation-states currency that actually exists were rounded up and sent in all at once. This is what is responsible for our perpetual slavery as well as the seemingly never-ending widening of the gap between the opulent and the rest of us. We are the government and the power to control and create money needs to be taken back from private hands if we ever hope to see any kind of escape from this servitude to the private currency controllers.
I've always wondered why people name their kids names that already exist anyway. It's a nightmare for database administration to say the least and then on top of that I think the human race has just given up when I see this. I mean - at one point all the names that exist were new names that never existed before. People made them up. So when exactly did the creation of new names stop and why? Have we evolved imagination right out of our brains or just become lazy?
The fact of the matter is that the nature of the universe has culminated in creatures which require vast amounts of energy to accomodate their oversized brains capacity for being easily bored so I say it deserves whatever it gets. If trashing the planet wasn't part of the plan then I say go for it and waste away man!
The problem with that is unlike P2P systems like Kazaa and Gnutella bittorrent works like crap when not enough people have a copy of the file you're trying to download. When it comes to bittorrent keeping it 'hush hush' actually just kills it on its' own with no need for MAFIA intervention.
Also never wanted one here either and hoping I can get through life without ever having to own one. As I am about halfway through said life now the chances are starting to look pretty good. Promoting personal transportation vehicles as a way of life seems really stupid to me on just about every level and I'd rather continue to avoid supporting it if I can.
I think that US official policy is officially against socialism last I checked so this makes good sense in order that they might keep ahold of their cultural identity.
That'd show their stiff upper lips a thing or three because, as every american knows, if violence doesn't solve the problem it's only because you're not using enough.
My standard practice has always been not to get involved socially - whether on the web or IRL - right up front. This has worked 100% in warding off any kind of separation issues that would occur otherwise and I highly recommend it to anyone and most especially to those who think I'm some kind of target for their social interests.
I suspect lighter than air technology has less capability for transferring wealth from the poor to the rich and therefore is a non-starter / invalid to the successful continuation of the status quo.
I'm glad something is being done I can't recall how many times I've looked up a street address to find Google maps reporting it as being 4 or 5 blocks away (on average) from where it actually is.
Out of the many many years I've been using TPB only once did I ever download a torrent that was an infection. It tunred out they were getting blasted with numerous ups by someone intending to infect others. All the infections from that particular campaign were taken down within 10 minutes of reporting them. So far as I've been able to see the moderating on that board is quite good considering what it is.
filesharing !=piracy

Every time aesthetics trumps functionality I get just a little bit sadder.

CORRECTION: If trashing the planet wasn't part of the plan then we wouldn't have evolved the capacity to do so I say go for it and waste away man!
Well that goes without saying however thank you for being thorough with the matter.

I think you really misunderstood the message you were replying to. The key word there (repeated too) was "consumer".
Not everyone lives in the backwatered North America where the ISP's are still wringing large dollars for 1990's bandwidth out of typical home users.

And anyway that word is completely mis-used to denote bigotry against jewish people when in fact semite != jew:

Actually, according to this nutjob it's because we stopped oppressing women and overpopulating the planet that the space shuttle program has ended:

The war on polio went pretty well and I don't remember the disease doing any negotiating on that one.
You have no certainty, period.
