    There is also the issue of loading gauge.
    Loading gauge is different from rail gauge (the distance between the rails)...it refers to the size of the rolling stock that can be run on the line, dictated by the proximity of structures to the line itself. It's the reason why North American trains couldn't run on British railroads even though the track gauge is the same.

    the cost of switching away is very high. The cost of upgrading when the Micro$oft EOLs their software is also high, what with the requirement for a server CAL PLUS an Exchange CAL plus the client software plus the server software.
    I've never liked the whole you-must-buy-a-separate-access license-for-every-user model. as far as I am concerned, once I buy a server, what I do with it is my business, and whether I have 5 people connecting to it or 500, it's none of their business!
    I was looking forward to the release of Leopard Server, because it contains a collaborative calendaring function (with unlimited client licensing included) but now they've pushed it back in favour of some silly phone that will only be availible through a cell provider that I detest. Oh well...

    Should I care that much about Leopard? Yes you should if you're thinking of deploying Small Business Server or deploying/upgrading Exchange. If Leopard Server lives up to its promises, it will be a serious Exchange/SBS killer and if Micro$oft isn't worried, they should be.

    As far as notebooks go, I love the Macbook pro, but I don't like its price tag. Though its superior engineering should translate into a longer lifespan than most PC notebooks, which are almost throwaway items now.

    This was a major headache for a LOT of sysadmins! It buggered Win 2k systems, it buggered Exchange, it buggered Crackberry, and for what?
    As far as the "benefits" you've cited go, they could also have been acrued simply by people getting up an hour earlier! No need to frig around with system clocks in order to do that!

Re-booting the system will cause the change to take effect, so W2K-Pro machines that were patched and shut down over the weekend should be OK come Monday. W2K Servers on the other hand which don't get rebooted all that often will need to be "prodded" in order for the update to take effect, if you haven't rebooted them since applying the update.

    Their guilt is manifest by the fact that they've removed the work in question from their website. If it wasn't a problem, they wouldn't have felt the need to do so.
