I've had similar experiences to yours, but I think it just comes down to finding a good server. You have to remember that a lot of the servers you see in the first few days after a demo release are probably on a windows machine. While that may not be all bad if the OS is Windows 2000 or XP, I would hate to think how a win98 box would run as a server. Now factor in that this person is running a 16 player game off of his cable modem and that'll give you a REALLY bad time.

Want to know another benefit to gov't work? I can go to school and still work full time without any headaches. I'm currently working full time for a university and going to school half time at the same university. I can take off from work for a couple hours each day with no problems.

Have a late night working on a project for school and have to come into work late? No big deal. My boss has literally no idea what time I come into work or what time I leave, all that matters is that I'm getting my work done. Also since I'm a computer science major I can usually work on homework while at work and of course get paid for it. Absolutely wonderful.

A better analogy would be someone breaking into this painters studio and copying a 1cm by 1cm square out of painting then sharing it with everyone.

I saw the storyboards before they were taken down and I believe their were six different images of a fight scene. That is nothing when looking at the big picture of an entire movie. Now I don't know if that is *ALL* the storyboards that were available, but there would have to be quite a few to actually ruin any part of the movie.

Compare life expectancy in the US and in, say, New Guinea. Does technology has anything to do with this rather striking difference?

We in the US may live longer, but honestly are our "lives" better? Sure I can watch TV with 2,000 channels till I'm 85 years old while some tribesman in New Guinea is hunting for food (or whatever they do), but who has the higher "quality" of life? I may be staring at a screen 10 hours a day while someone else in less technologically advanced society is actually "living". Would you say the average person in the US is a happy person? Having a more advanced technology doesn't mean we will be better human beings or be happier individuals.

What makes it even more disappointing is that I'm only 6,000ft away from the CO. My first hop should be under 20ms when in fact it's 95ms.

I currently work full time (40 hrs a week) and go to school part time. It's kind of fun working in an IT department at the University where I also currently take classes. I receive 15 credit hours for $2.00/credit hour. If I take anymore than that (which I do) then I have to pay the full price. I make decent money, so I don't have any student loans to pay off when I'm done with school.

I can really apply the things I've learned in some classes to my job and I think that really helps truly understand the subject.

This isn't for everyone though because I am usually very busy. It really is a good situation for me right now. And you know whats even better? When I graduate college I will have a Computer Science degree with over 4 years of experience in an IT related job. I can see dollar signs. :)
