professors (to some extent, ie: high school and lower), firefighters, and paramedics all get paid crap where i live. Educators get money from extra hours , medics in general get "tips" even though we have universal health care that pays them next to nothing. Firefighters just starve.
So far at my sysadmin/general it job i have:
- drilled holes in reinforced concrete
- installed the electrical system in a house complete with assembling the light fixtures
- unmounted a kitchen sink and fixed some heat radiators to the wall
- smacked iron rods protruding from the concrete floor to get them out
- delivered documents and merchandise as a courier
So your analogy isn't that far off , that being said choose your workplace properly , if there's no proper workplace in your country emigrate. (I'm currently looking for any civilized country still accepting immigrants)
Buying a proper case , such as a chieftec is the best "upgrade" i've ever done. CPU temp on my Prescott dropped from 80*C to 40*C (no bullshit) due to proper ventilation.
Hard drives stopped buzzing all day long , and best of all , unlike all the cheap cases i've ever had this one worked without bending at the rear when inserting the mobo , and is still usable after all these years , and will still be usable when i upgrade the rest of my components. Every time i got a cheap case something on it broke , got really dirty due to bad design or the components just plain didn't fit.
The reduced stress due to lots of space inside , toolles screws and reduced "finger cutting in sharp edges" just added to the benefits. It might've cost 5x times as much as an cheap case , but it made up the difference 10 times.
Since then I've replaced all cases in the house with proper cases.
My point is: cheap metal cases suck anyway , paper would suck even more. Don't be a cheapskate , you get what you pay for. *
*doesn't matter if you see the pc as if it were a toaster with more buttons.
Why does it matter if the negligent choice results in a death or not ? That's purely a thing of chance. They should try and stop negligence altogether rather than negligence_on_bad_days.
While i agree that drunken driving and texting at the wheel should be punished I'd rather it be just as an extra offense rather than as an aggravating one.
I makes no sense to punish someone more for being drunk than reckless as the only reason for him being drunk at the wheel is that he is reckless!
In case of an accident one should get charged with both offenses, that might carry the same impact on the sentence but seems more like the proper way to write laws.
This style of writing laws makes people think "it's alright , what are the chances of me killing someone while texting ?". It's more a matter of perception but it does impact how drivers behave.
While what you say is true i don't trust people to be ethical outside what comforts them and money tends to comfort a lot of them.
I applaud your efforts in staying neutral but at the same time feel that not so many of your brethren respect these rules. That might be because i grew up in an area where the media is either corrupt or owned by large corporations themselves or some political party. There's almost no expectation of objectivity in some places.
>> Corporations know that part of launching a successful project is projecting the right image to the media.
Large corporations pay to get media coverage , and if they don't , some journalists tend to write about certain corporations they have stocks in.
I doubt they'd write much even if the developers did their job for them.
Someone should design a decent bio reactor and distilling apparatus.
Farmers would appreciate the free fuel , even if the industry does not adopt watermelon juice powdered cars , tractors have less sophisticated engines that could probably run on mostly alcohol without much damage.
I some farmers down here ran their tractors on sunflower oil because that's what they were growing in the fields.
Computing power is not a problem anymore , what we need is an unobtrusive and decent resolution head mounted display.
Until we have that these applications are nice and fun , no-matter the platform they run on , but they're really not all that useful.
Maybe adapt one for a car windshield HUD. It's already possible to apply a semi reflecting foil to the windshield and have a screen beneath it project real time data on it.
I don't know about NAND chips , but apparently ram isn't all that "volatile" as it should be( http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/secure_del.html , part 7).
If nand flash is anything like ram the ware leveling algorithms would still ruin any forensics in a system were data changes frequently.
Socialized medicine is bullshit , i should know as i live in Romania , an ex-communist piece of wasteland. Trust me , all you do is pay for the mandatory healthcare insurance and get nothing back.
The hospitals look like shit , smell like shit and if you're "lucky" you might just step in shit. Nobody has done any work on them for almost 20 years.
I once broke my leg , the ambulance got to me in a mere 3 hours.
The equipment is old , so old they usually send you to get tests done at private clinics.
If you need an operation , they usually have nothing and you have to go buy everything from cotton pads and rubbing alcohol to the string they sew you up with... so much for insurance.
(oh , and the wages and conditions are so low for doctors that you _have_ to bring some sort of bribe or you're not getting anything anytime soon).
So have fun! socializing anything does nothing but give power to one organization...and anything with that much power in one pot is bound to be abused.
I imagine this would only solve the problem for the first millimeters , you'd still need a pretty big heat sink somewhere.
Would this open up the door for really high frequencies or would it just optimize things a little ?
I doubt it's so much of a technological problem as it's economical. Sure they'll be able to do it , but that doesn't mean it's going to come at the same price.
Apply that to the 2d sprites in doom ? I like the new engines out there created to play doom II wads and new fancy poligonated objects , but it would be nicer if the monsters were 3d as well.
It's realy hard to understand what you mean by that. Would you elaborate? Doesn't really matter that much , just saying i ingest alcohol/smoke because i so well please.
I know, it's hard to believe, if you don't already accept this, but addicts don't consume the substances they are addicted to voluntarily. That's the nature of addiction. While that might be true for some i couldn't have been addicted before i started drinking/smoking. I know i want to continue doing that just the same as i wanted to start doing these things then , hence my by comparison my judgment is the same as when i was "not addicted" (by your standards).
And, I think you might have trouble parsing English: sober addict means a person dependant on a substance that consciously, actively doesn't use. So "addicted to alcohol (sober), GABA (sober)" means that I consume neither alcohol, nor GABA agonists, voluntarily or not. That i understood , and i used the same "sintax" to say i currently drink alcohol and smoke (in greater or smaller quantities )
As for the rest of your message: why are you so full of anger and hate? Does this topic trouble you so much?
Robert Anger and hate? Oh that , I'm just tired of people blaming their problems on substances , and also tired of people telling other people what's right or wrong . That's all , don't get too worked out by it , nothing personal.
Cheers! (not the best greeting i guess )
You're not counting all the el-cheapo linux soho broadband routers , and the routers in general connected to the internet just because the statistics you showed are about "the web" not the internet. You don't need to pass an user agent to be counted as connected to the itnernet.

I haven't read the specification but i certainly like the "Obey DRM limitations" check box in the Kpdf settings menu.
Could you please post some of the movie titles ? Sounds like fun.
Here's a cheaper ($200 + shipping) and open source design/ software implementation. http://www.opengear.com/product-okvmpci.html Found them by searching for an open source kvm over ip implementation. http://okvm.sourceforge.net/kvmoverip.html

i'm guessing since it only destroys the metal layer they could re-coat it. the actual data is stored on an organic material not on the metal.
i'll look into it then, thanks!
arguments please

So you've never heard of: heatpipes , water cooling , or punctuation ? Must be tough...

for one , my ISP doesn't give me the opportunity to pay them for a static ip.
True, true... I don't get them tho , the number of people doing that is so low. And then you have CNAMES +/ some dynamic DNS service.
Hopefully ISPs will start to offer IPv6 as standard pretty quick, I'm getting tired of dynamic IP allocation.
