Just don't mention Circuit Breaker's appearance in the Secret Wars 8-). The TF universe was separate to the 'real' Marvel Universe, although it had Spidey, SHIELD and The Savage Land (which is where the Ark found the dinosaurs to reformat the Dinobots). Also, the Transformers were in the same universe as GI Joe, and there were at least three cross-overs (one of which was UK-only).
You should write editorials more often 8-). Especially liked the "We're Open Sorce zealots, and that we will never, ever back down" bit.
We should try and spread the story as far as we can see; write letters to local + national papers, Senators, members of Congress, the DoJ, everywhere. The world should be shown that even as Microsoft is presenting a benign image to the court, saying "We'll be good. Please don't break us up", they're doing exactly the same thing that they're in court for!
I hope Judge Jackson breaks them up with a large jackhammer...
I wish that news people would start reporting that it's the stupidly permissive scripting mail clients that are making this possible, mostly Outlook!
Today's Guardian, over here in the UK, has a write-up on the virus, and has some wuotes from some security people (can't remember who, sorry), who do point the finger of blame at Microsoft. This is followed by the Micorsoft denial, of course 8-)
Hey, their bandwidth agreement only talks about non-HTTP traffic that I download. It doesn't say anything about traffic coming the other way 8-). Still, I'm sure they'll contact me if it becomes a problem...
Personally, I'd just like support for my lowly Epson Stylus 300 (stop laughing at the back), so I wouldn't have to reboot into Windows just to print something 8-(.
McGrath said yesterday she has decided to remove another provision in the bill that would have required residence hall administrators to conduct random monthly inspections of all residents' rooms for prohibited items.
I'm not sure if they will sell everything off. I think that AOL is trying to protect itself from the inevitable deflation of Internet stocks, by buying into more substantial / concrete areas.
Or maybe they just want a huge legal MP3 collection 8-)
White TV detector vans go by neighbourhoods occasionally to check if you are paying fees or not (I s**t you not, my privacy loving American. In the UK you are VanEcked all the time). IIRC, you also need to get extra licenses (at a reduced fee) for extra televisions. No wonder I never saw more than one TV in any house in England, and no wonder the Pizza dishes started there first (Sky TV).
Not quite right. The TV Licence covers an address, and all TVs under the household are covered by the licence (unless it's a flat/apartment/hall/commercial operation, obviously). And you have to pay even if you only use a satellite dish.
If you do get an old VCR without a tuner, prepare for a few visits from the TV Licencing mob; they can't believe that people can live without TV 8-).
Oh, and the Licence also pays for the BBC Radio network.

What were they going on about with AutoRPM? I'm sure that selecting a package to install and going to the Package-Info option tells you were the RPM comes from. And it has a PGP verification option...
It bears a passing resemblance to David Brin's Earth. Although even that had the notion that a singularity would have to be of a certain size before it started to be a problem.
The story is a bit different a bit further up north (Manchester, UK). Although the university as a whole seems to have standardised on NT 4 machines, the CS dept. has a fairly large lab full of PIIs running Linux, as well as SGI workstations, Twinheads, etc.
And all the lecturers seem to slag off Microsoft as much as possible 8-).

Impress the dept. and gain the respect of /.! Certainly much more fun than the Java web-trawler I did this year...

But are they including SCSL code in Sun's count?

That was in Freakazoid. He did a hilarious explanation of the MPAA rating system in a 2-part episode that explained Freakazoid's origin.

We've spent the last few months going on how about if you can read / play music / video, you'll always be able to make a copy. The response from BMG?
A music format no-one can read!
Hang on, if it isn't Red Book compliant, what is it going to play in?

That was nice of her 8-).

No, you're incorrect. The Win2K box that was up never got hacked, unlike the LinuxPPC box. Nice try, though.
But didn't it get taken down fairly soon after it was put up, because of an internal problem? Of course, I'm probably remembering it wrong...
Come on, can we fill the article space on index.pl completely with stories about people suing each other 8-)?
ObTopic: Doesn't Canada have some sort of rebroadcast law that makes this alright?

..but isn't the scrapping of the right to jury trial being done to bring us in line with the rest of the EU?
Apparently, SP6 locks out all ports above 1024 unless you are logged in as Administrator.
And no-one at Microsoft noticed this? Or does Quality Control run everything as Administrator 8-)?
...I want a radio built in as well. I'm just never satisfied 8-)

There's lots of other tutorials there too...
So: What was your favourite Sandman issue?
24 Hours. One of the only comics ever to scare me (the others are the tortune issues of Invisibles Vol. #1).
