Bought the 4 disc Mandrake 8.0 in 2001. It came with an excellent book explaining
the basics. Had been running Red Hat 6.1 for about a year and the Mandrake
felt much more polished. As I recall at the time I had a Pentium II with 32 mb of
RAM and it would run KDE, but worked much better with Fluxbox. A big deal at
that time was to play a DVD, which it did with some help of packages from the
Penguin Liberation Front. Got me on the internet as well, setting up PPPOE was
stressful. Doesn't seem like 16 years ago. Have been running Linux as my main
desktop ever since, no complaints.
The simplest reason I would suppose is that if one-third of the jobs are done by computers
or robots in ten years time then certainly the persons who would have done those jobs
don't need to go to college. They are already superfluous to a functioning economy.
And your opinion doesn't matter. Nobody asked me if it was a good idea to start replacing
people with machines. I can see how in the long term this will be problematic.
Agreed, not every thing is crap. Although for every good example you can provide, there are a hundred bad.
And you must mean jet engines, as the cars are as German as Herman Goering.
Anyone who buys anything made in the U.K. should not be surprised when it falls apart.
That's the reputation the British have developed over decades. Crappy McCrapCrap.
Of course Google wouldn't lie about anything would they? I'm no genius like Eric Schmidt,
but maybe he should have paid his millions in "bribes" to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats
with a post-dated check. Honest brokers? Not those guys.
I am sure that I would have a positive outlook for the future if my net worth was
like Mr. Andreessen's in the one billion dollar neighborhood. Wouldn't be too
worried at all. Poor people? Fuck 'em.
Don't know if global warming will be our demise.
Do know 2 things. Some people lie and some people will believe anything.
Humans would be funny, if there weren't so many of them.
Generally speaking, its been my experience that the company who buys the most ad space
has the best noise reduction. And bullshit makes the world go around.
Your "superiors" are "management" or the company and they are not your fellow employees.
As it was explained to me, the worker has a job and the supervisor has a position.
If you are management, and your actions have contravened the Collective Bargaining
Agreement the union will lodge a grievance with the company.
Unions are a good thing when both sides stick to their agreements. Unfortunately there
are unconstitutional laws in the U.S. ("Right to Work" laws) which have gutted most
Unions. Funnily enough at the same time wages have gone down. Go figure.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. You don't file a grievance against
a fellow employee, it's always against the company. That is Collective Bargaining 101
my unenlightened friend.
What company wouldn't want to build a billion dollar high tech factory in a state where people walk around with blocks of cheese on their heads?
Every nation gets the government it deserves. Joseph de Maistre. (1860)

Putting the boots to Lennart again are we? Can't think of anyone more deserving. May I join in?

OpenRC. This is the alternative that works perfectly fine for me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
When you put it to sleep, it has to be in a coffin filled with dirt from Transylvania.

Cosmos: A Personal Voyage with Carl Sagan.
Right now there are 21 seeders and 33 leeches. Am guessing half of those think they're downloading Thunderdome. Kind of embarrassing.

Yes, it is interesting, isn't it? I suppose you believe the reviews on amazon as well?

Hey microsoft, fuck off. And take your crappy tablets with you.

It's a 47 gigabyte download ... you'd have to be really dedicated to get that one.
Hope you're happy with your mp3s and Beat headphones.
The Soviets had something like that. I think they called them salt mines.
