They're not ALL still running. I bought a T40 for about $2500 CDN just before IBM sold
the franchise to Lenovo. Despite babying it, over the next five years the CD-RW
drive failed, then the hard drive, then the motherboard itself due to "lead free" solder
on the GPU. Then there was all the Thinkpads with nvidia graphics that failed. The Asus netbook that replaced it has been trouble free for a longer period and cost 1/10th
as much. But hey, bullshit makes the world go around.
They've been saying that bit torrent is on it's last legs since not long after I started to use it in about 2003. But yet it's still going. They apparently didn't know what they were talking about.
Happens quite regularly on the internet. Once you see the humor of it, it's quite enjoyable.
With China going through 3-4 billion tons a year and the U.S. another billion tons, why should tiny Finland even bother. Lot of carbon in coal. Almost all carbon in fact.
At one point in the 1970s it was my misfortune to be employed as a Filter Queen vacuum
cleaner salesman (regrets, I've had a few). Anyways at the time I was taught that some
people "have to be told to buy" something, even if it's from a perfect stranger. They can't
make the decision on their own as most people are told what to do their whole lives. That
and "Advertising is the best way to sell something, especially if it's no fucking good".
The U.S. should walk away from S. Korea and let them fend for themselves.
It's not worth starting WW III over a corrupt little country like that. The time
to stomp on N. Korea has long passed. And both Russia and China have
shown they won't stand for a U.S. preemptive strike. So now that the
entire world is laughing at your leader and you're on the verge of a
full on race war the time for changes has come. Stick to chasing your
own ass in Afghanistan.
So if it's such a crime against humanity for what VW did with their diesel cars
then where is the outrage over all the big semi-trailer trucks?
Seems like hypocrisy. After all those big trucks only get 4-8 m.p.g..
Which puts out the most NOX emissions? Ditto for the big 4x4 diesel
pickups. Half of them I hear going up the road sound like they don't
even have mufflers on them. Never liked diesels.
Time will tell who is right and who is wrong. In perhaps 5 or 10 or 20 years. There is an autonomous motorcycle
built by Yamaha on youtube that's very impressive. It's a very complex problem. And I for one don't wish to be
a guinea pig or "take my chances" with one. Good luck with yours if you get one.
More and more people are coming to the conclusion that the "self driving"
or autonomous car is still many years in the future. It's like the flying car.
What if something goes wrong? You're f#@ked.
Just because you give any random kid a computer for five years that will not
raise their IQ score. Some people thought it would. Is society at large more
intelligent than twenty years ago? I say no. My citations? Rap music, reality
TV, Facebook, Twitter and Donald Trump. Plus, if you're really smart, you're
going to want to move away from Maine ASAP. They call it Brain Drain.
My question, not being a facebook-er, is why does Slashdot have a facebook page? Who benefits?

Say it ain't so. Joe.

Professor Frink: I've re-dorkulated!
Larry Ellison didn't get to where he is (one of the richest in the world) by giving shit away. Is there a tax deduction involved? Hidden agenda?
... tie a small string around it (dental floss?) and attach the other end to a brick. That way you won't lose it.
Hollywood should try something more intellectual. Perhaps "Cabin Boy 2".
And now it's time for the Channel 5 sports report, brought to you by Kia. Kia: too bad it's a Kia!
Have you tried unplugging your router then plugging it back in again?
Has anyone thought of putting a small thermonuclear device in Dennis Rodman and sending him back over to Pyongyang.
But some people do have more enthusiasm for Nobel Laureates. We call them nerds.
Never trust any guy with a pony tail unless it's Willie Nelson.
Like they do with the large animals over there who are on the verge of extinction?

What are the odds that all those drones will be intercepted/stolen in the first two weeks?

But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.

I need T.P. for my bunghole.

"Hang onto that laptop kid. That's the very one that Bill Belichik threw in the garbage during an NFL game. Should be worth a tidy sum one day."
