Pulling out my copy of "Between You, Me and the Gatepost" - Pat Boone's 1960 "all new, down-to-earth teenage-guide". Let's see...ah here it is, on page 152, the final paragraph of chapter 11. Brains vs. Bombs:
"And brother, when a really fit, alert and educated America flexes it's muscles, that Russian bear had better head for the hills!"
emphasis added. And I bet you didn't know ole Pat was an author - it only rates a very short reference in his Wikipedia entry;)
You know, that somewhat sizable city north of the border. According to the article, we have the highest density (100 per sq/mile) and the highest connect speeds. But other than those two nuggets, no other info in the article.
As I recall though, the scope of the Toronto Hydro Wi-Fi project is quite limited in size to the real core of the the downtown core.
Did you miss the part of the article where its clearly stated, he could not reactive it without calling MS support to get a new code? Happened to my wife with XP, what a freeking pain.
Ironically (or not - your choice), the post advising developers of this change contains a spelling error. No biggy, really...I mean who knows that "to" means one thing and "too" another? Certainly not someone posting advisories to developers on a little site like Facebook...
LOL. Our guys send out typo riddled notices all the time. They need more console love, an AIX terminal is very unforgiving of typos...oh crap I just brought a ton of sites down, I meant status, not stop!
I still haven't forgiven them for the abortion that was version 6, where the stability went in the toilet.
Aye! Along with about everything that made version 5.1 (DOS) the best there was...about all I can recall us ever getting (I was admin for a college network) were new printer driver disks. It simply worked, and (once you go to know it) worked simply. Those were the days... WP 5.1 and 1-2-3 (2.3 ?) - though I admit I got pretty fond of early Excel.
Still, I am gonna give OO a try, downloaded 2.2 a couple of weeks ago, have 2.3 in Utorrent now - sharing with the masses.
Same applies to online financial reports and such. One banking client I supported had a user who was always asking us how to "copy" a page into Word - when asked why - she would always say "I want to include it in a report I am writing!" We would try to explain that was tantamount to photocopying articles from magazines and including that in a report, but she never quite seemed to grasp the fact that just cause it was on her screen did not mean she could not do whatever she wanted with it. DOH!
Most good electronica (though I admit my tastes are somewhat limited to chill, ambient, and psytrance and psy-ambient) is on small independent labels. Have a look at http://myspace.com/sherpajohn for some links to other myspace pages of these sorts of artists and labels, or go to a good 90% of the CD's I bought in the last 3 years are from there, sometimes I find something decent in a local HMV or the little used CD shop I go to now and then. As for the intoxicant of choice for these folks, you will have to ask them, personally I find the music itself intoxicating enough.
Ah...The Knife (reminds me to look for Genesis Live!)
Stand up and fight, for you know we are right We must strike at the lies That have spread like disease through our minds. Soon we'll have power, every soldier will rest And we'll spread out our kindness To all who our love now deserve. Some of you are going to die - Martyrs of course to the freedom that I shall provide.
I am a lot like you - I would not listen to most of the mainstream big label music if it was free (oh wait broadcast radio is, and I refuse to listen to it), yet I buy more CD's today than I did 10 years ago. Why? di.fm - chillout channel plays great music, 90% of it from small independent European labels. If they go off the air, I don't know how I'll find new music to listen to (well that's not entirely true, I can rely on the artist sand labels I have come to love to provide me with new music).
The bug in evolution which allowed Homo Sapiens to gain language and self awareness. Gaia knows it never should have happened! But I am sure it will corected shortly (that being shortly in the cosmic scale of time).
I checked the website - nothing there but a box with focus to enter something. A contact page. An address in London, that does not really parse as a street but a place. Google search on the company name yields nothing but this laptop - all based on the same article. Google search on the CEO yields a now "private" page on a site the "connects" business people. The cached page has a bunch of luxury names in it. Googel images even has a cached image of a young guy leaning on a car.
This sounds like viral cow pies publicity grab or April Fools to me. There's a $350,000+ laptop noted here: http://most-expensive.net/laptop-world - and its covered in gems. There's no way you can justify technology alone making this worth anywhere near $100,000 much less $1,000,000. I call BU-double-hockey-sticks on this story.
If what they were doing is both legal and a State Secret, they should be able to at least prove this to a Judge "in camera" (?). Otherwise is it not possible that what is it being allegged the government requested and what they carried out are illegal acts for which both AT&T and the government should be held accountable?
How is this different to say wireshark or any other traffic analyzer? This is like wireshark with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads - well not really, its more like a mutated sea bass, ill tempered as it may be.

I rip all my cd's into iTunes as wav - I want the original. One issue with that though is there's no meta-data, another I just discovered when I bought an iPod - 8gb is about 12 albums, no where near enough for our one week vacation! So now I had to make AAC copies of every wav file in my collection (that only took 8 hours or so), create playlists using only the AAC files and put them on my iPod. Fun Wow! well, its gonna be really nice for that 3 hour wait in the airport on the way to Mexico.
I am quite sure they do not have a DX10 client for release. Whether one is planned or not remains to be seen.
As to the criticism of the diversity of the mobs, well they are somewhat constrained by the lore. They cannot invent a bunch of monster types to inhabit the lands. On the other hand, I have yet o play a game until this that has such sumorous and thought provoking quests. Yes, there's lots of kill x quests, but there is at least as many that are part of longish chains involving various NPC's and situations that are really funny (as in laugh out loud). I guess I am spolied, been waiting for this a long time, and been loving my time in Beta. Will be playing release for sure (since I've already ordered the wife and I a copy each).
And ff there's some things about it that keeps the l33t kiddies and the powergaming perfectionists away, I'll be even more pleased.
I buy about 16 or so CD's a year. Generally 4 batches of 4 or so. But I have to order them online from Europe (psyshop.com in Germany - great folks run it!), since no stores in Canada sell anything from the labels I buy. Now that's not 100% true, there is a couple of artists I listen to (Delerium, Conjure One) that are actually Canadian, and another artist (Toby Marks ala Banco De Gaia) who has distribution here (though I now buy CD's directly from him, get them sooner than waiting for the release).
I pretty much stopped buying the drivel put out my the major labels in the early 90's, stopped listening to the radio (di.fm FTW!), and most of the concerts I go to are old bands coming back for the umpteenth time - though I did see Coldplay's 2nd tour which was darn good!
To my mind the music *business* has turned into just that - a machine designed to reap the greatest money from the consumer for the least amount of effort/talent/artistry. There are tons of fantastic artists out there, but the vast majority of them record on little tiny labels (twisted.co.uk, ultimae.com are two that I consider noteworthy).
I admit to doing a bit of Nabstering in my day, but honestly all I was looking for were extended mixes of 80's tunes that are not available anywhere. I would not even consider pirating/downloading any of the music I listen to all the time if I can buy it on CD.
And how would this rid us of problems? You cannot simply withdrawl a lawsuit like this. Well they could try, but IBM's counterclaims would still stand. No, its better to let this run its course and let justice be served (though by the time it is served itwill be stone cold, much like revenge at its best).

Yeah, the "Duke Nukem Forever" Award. ;)
Yeah but "around here" for the likes of you is under a bridge somewhere. You should get out more, see the sun...whoops you're stone!

e-Bay - all the items in the article are links to the e-Bay auction for that item. Low UID is already over $350(US). Wow.

My irony meter just broke, and you owe me a new one.

Oh, and the most I could spend on an Alienware laptop - with the most expensive options is like $5500.
