From what I've seen the only need to know you've been sending torrent pieces to other clients and this is visible on your IP address. The encryption would do nothing as officials (or MAFIAA for that matter) could simply start the torrent and see what IP addresses seed the torrent to them. Passworded files are already bad enough in terms of longevity and security, the passwords will become lost as sites disappear from free hosting sites for basic policy violation or other reasons, and the password is listed in plain text, which is indexed by say, Google. I have found the password to stuff I downloaded from isohunt with google (isohunt usually lacks documentation to their files for some reason and if I don't remember the exact one or the website link is broken there's not many other ways to find it), I don't see how encryption will make any difference. Remember that ISPs and the government (well, except in Sweden) are not the persons filing the lawsuits (and ISPs fact are more than likely to receive them merely for having it on their network).
This limits how the website can offer different languages, as in which part of the code/url that determines it (such as the domain name, or/en-us or lang?="en-us" or a cookie) and how a language is chosen (first page automatic region detection, a user bookmarking lang?="en-us", etc)
Depends on how legal the porn is.
You know you need to re-image a hard drive 7 times to be unrecoverable by forensic teams? (Or delete the content in 32 passes, meaning delete, fill space with bogus data, repeat).
Why is the focus on child pornography, when clearly, as so many other countries require various people and organizations to otherwise block it from the average web user (one that does not actually look past Google [say, the chan sites])? Currently in the US Every operational tier of the internet (with at least 3 points in authority talents) is required to block and report it to the federal government. Even Wi-Fi Operators can face fines up to $2000 or so. (I hope no one leeches mine, it insists on updating the firmware and reseting all the settings every 72 hours.) First, child porngraphy has a separate legal category while racial hatred and terrorism border on our lines of free speech. If we aren't threating anyone or breaking an existing law, then the law should be more forgiving, as it does not usually prosecute those who post gender hatred, sexual orientation hatred, economic-class or economic hatred, or just general, misguided ranting (except in China, Energy hording bastards! [See China's 100 year plan])
Furthermore the potential for abuse by botnets and other situations where x wants to get rid of y is retarded.
"Under the French plan, internet users, via a platform, will be able to signal inappropriate sites and the state, receiving the complaints in real time, will then decide whether the sites are to go on a so-called black list to be passed on to internet service providers to enforce site blocks."
Focusing on child pornography when in reality a greater issue is at hand is like admitting you visit 7chan or 12chan just for the jailbait. Most countries that users are posting in already have child pornography essentially eradicated to the common internet user (as not only are ISPs required to block it, but search engines remove it from their indexes as well.)
No! You don't get it. There is a difference between VALUE invert (i.e., creating a new adjustment -> Invert layer and setting it to LUMINOSITY and then masking it via layer transparency if needed) and plain-old invert. Sometimes you need to invert the colors without inverting the values, so in GIMP you would use filters->something->value invert, which would only invert the luminosity. I know these don't look like much, but obviously desktop screenshots aren't the best example.

Okay, say you received $$$ and must put it into an investment (house, computer, -- I don't think "savings account" or "stock market" counts) or lose half of it due to taxes. I'd think I'd go with the Dell just because it has better hardware and, generally, you can't run the latest video games on a Mac, especially one with "average" hardware.
Is when you've already visited the site, but for some obscure reason, even though they registered with a big-time registrar, another registar places it in their DNS, and, your browser connects to that one first, and -- bingo -- the site you've visited for the past 5 days is now replaced by some "Find what you're looking for, right now" site crawling with useless content, spyware, a search box, and advertisements that link to sites designed in the same fashion. (And it's not a "typo" when you have it bookmarked and the admin is a friend of yours and tells you to connect via the IP address).
IANAL, but simply having the files available for download on your IP address apparently is enough to consider you a thief, even if you do purchase it legitimately later on. That, and you're also receiving stolen property. That said, why post it on your CNET blog? Do you WANT the MAFIAA to knock on your door?
Or WINE, on which most new computers should be able to run Age of Empires or whatever (but not something more intensive, necessarily). The problem I have with Linux is *none* of my drivers (video card, wireless networking, peripherals) are made for Linux, and I've always had a problem getting a dual-boot to communicate since I a) only have 1 hard disk and b) Windows won't seem to read a Linux-installer-formatted FAT32 partition. Not-to-mention that even after the initial hardware barriers that I'd still probably just use WINE and it won't be useful. For instance, I've used Photoshop for at least 2 years and just can't get used to this "GIMP" thing although I do happen to use it for silly things like value invert (3 step process in Photoshop) and transparent lens flares (relatively impossible without 3rd party filter which I don't happen to have and can't seem to find). Even if I had the money to get one of those systems that could run two operating systems simultaneously, one on each processor, I'd probably install Windows XP Professional SP2(and, unfortunately, I will need to install Vista for Direct X 10 eventually, but that also requires me to update my hardware anyway) and Mac OS X (--insert version number--).
Is it just me or 99.99% of all ringtone advertisements are blatantly describing pirated, badware-infested, low-quality, ringtones placed in passworded.rar files with trojaned keygenerators?
No one seems to be reading the comments/article. It is a metered internet service. Downloading openoffice from the openoffice.org site will take up approximately all of your allowed bandwidth. The openoffice download used to be on the unmetered section. This will stop them from using proxy servers as well, as they are charged per kb in addition to monthly fees.
All Open Social is is a universal API format that can to code widgets and the like across Myspace, and all the other "I've never heard of these". In no way does it connect these sites, so I really don't see the purpose if I don't even know the names of half the sites it works on!
The afterburners on most fighter jets can usually be fired for 10 minutes, 5 of which are usually used during take off. However, out of the aforementioned planes the F-22 has the ability to supercruise, at what speed I don't know, but certainly faster than Mach 1.6. And let me point out "2 seconds of research reveals..."
You need to travel about 100,000ft to get to 100,000ft, depending on initial attitude and how mean sea level is measured. So that means 2 hours of take off, 2 hours of landing, 30 seconds of flight, and, 2 hours to get to the airport, 2 hours of waiting for security, 2 hours of weather delays (it always is miserable when you fly), etc etc.
I saw in a TIME Magazine article that another contributing factor to air travel delay is the fact that planes can't fly in a straight line. They can't fly straight from Boston to Washington DC, even. They have to fly between control and radio towers most of the time, so it's more like a jagged line to stay within the different control tower's radii. How they travel oversees, I do not know. I am willing to be enlightened by anyone who does know about this, in addition to an article about the flying-between-control towers procedure.
Humanity, has compassion and empathy more than other complex speices, but since we do need to evolve, instead of leaving him/her out in the snow, we could just make them sterile.
Or like in War of the Worlds, the aliens will be infected by all the latent diseases, pathogens, and chemicals on Earth -- all of which their immune systems can't handle. More than likely they'll get addicted to something while they're here too...
I rather have functionality than security. I once downloaded Belarc advisor and they added a security rating scale from 1 to 10. I believe it was based on or was a BaCa scale. I had a 3.4. I can only remember three instances where my system being completely compromised, all of which were my fault. Once, I installed a conflicting driver, so I reformatted not knowing exactly what driver to remove (and the Windows self help database just caused my system not to work at all, I removed one too many drivers). Next, a downloaded something manually, Macfee (which I get for free from Comcast) decided to block it when I tried to extract it. I decided to disable Macfee and yet it extract anyway, but turns out it really was a trojan and, ironically, had to use Macfee partially to recover. Finally my brother decided to hold down the enter key on my password window and that locked me out of my account (in a weird way, like, without freezing up and not letting you enter a password). Yet how many more times has security cost me functionality? I've had Macfee corrupt at least three software installations, only one of which was partially my fault (I didn't want Gamespy arcade, but turns out blocking it isn't a good idea), because there is no convenient way to turn it completely off (Norton Internet Security had an "exit" button, this doesn't, and many firewalls never truly shutoff unless you kill the process, which, since it has kernal access and/or another process to keep it alive, cannot ever be completely killed [by me]). Macfee doesn't detect any spyware (tracking cookies) that I get from the advertising on most sites, I have to run regular ad-aware scans (I'm too lazy to buy it). The comcast version of Macfee doesn't make its adblocking (if they include it, every time I download it it's different) completely obvious in the options (which I always check to make sure it isn't going to screw things up) and it has blocked several of my online applications that I use and yet left most of the ads there. Possibly due to firewall problems, I haven't been able to get my new FTP to work externally.
I have never lost complete system functionality on my new system due to badware. Apart from tracking cookies on the ads that I haven't blocked with ad-block plus or added to the cookie block list I never get any spyware (at least spyware that shows up in routine scans). All my other family members, including one with a Mac, have had serious problems with their computers that could not directly be related to hardware or drivers. I install anti-badware applications on all the computers, and, for the most part, they update automatically (although they must use the dedicated anti-spyware program manually, which I instruct them to do). So perhaps any rating of security based on system settings is mostly irrelevant. It depends on how safely and wisely you choose to use the internet (and how you clean up if you don't use it safely).

Patents on prescription pharmaceuticals last 5 years. After 5 years, other companies are allowed to duplicate it, thus it becomes generic.

Just kidding.
Out of the numerous suits Apple has made against bloggers, how many have they won? I can already pull up one that they lost: http://www.macnn.com/articles/07/01/29/apple.pays.legal.fees

Pulse-wave detonation, anyone? Remember that currently fuel is only "burned" when it could be "detonated" for much greater energy.
