A buddy of mine was trying to install one these damn cartridges the other day. Fresh out of the box. The stupid printer kept coming back saying that the cartridge was too old to be used. IT WAS A BRAND NEW CARTRIDGE!!! Out of a HP box. The damn printer won't budge on it at all.

I just love how people ove to point out all the mistakes the US has made, but never once mention any of positives.
How about the Marshal Plan, or food drops to famine stricken people. What about the other loans the US has made to 3rd world areas, and then wrote them off. How about the positive side of freeing Kuwait... Besides the Oil...we gave them their country back. We could have left Iraq keep them and glossed over the 'humanitarian issues' like we do with China.
Kuwaiti's got their towns, houses, etc back. We didn't install any bogus gov't.
I'll agree that the media is shitty at reporting. But jeez, give the country some credit. I'd still rather be here in the US than anywhere else, even with the DMCA, FBI, CIA, NSA, Carnivore...yada yada yada...

I don't think they're playing 'pass the blame'. They are pointing out how stupid this whole mess is.
We can't blame highways for drunk drivers anymore than we can blame Morpheus,Napster, "insert your favorite P2P program here", for allowing "drunk" users for illegaly sharing files.
Sure this analogy is not really that good, Drunk driving is a much more serious issue than sharing files... but the premise behind it is the same.

The VP of IS where I work, use to be a lower-level manager for us. But he knew how to work the system. He quit from here and was hired back as the VP. (I guess he had some sort of Business degree). What's nice is that we got to now him on a relaxed level, before he had power. So now it's still very easy to talk to him, and he knows our abilities. So unreasonable demands just don't come up. But since he is the one who signs our paychecks we definitly give him the respect he deserves. It's kind of weird, but all of us in my dept (we're not at headquarters), look foward to seeing him visit. It's a nice feeling.
This is of course because he's naturally a nice guy.

I wonder if 'fair use' would really be harmed? If there is 'cracking' software out there that allow you to make usable backups and media snippets, but leaves the watermark in, AND if you (general public you) never allow it to be put out into public, ie GNUtella et al. You should be good to go.
Does it really matter if I make usable copies and NOT give them out to any Joe Schmoe on the Internet?

There is a difference between 'Home' and 'Person'.
In a home you have a resonable expectation of Privacy, thus having your friends over and exchanging files there would be know problem. On the other hand, walking down the street, do we have a reasonable expectation of privacy? I'd love to say yes, but that's not the case.
hmm...I guess then we'd need RF detector Detectors...
There was that case about the DEA/FBI/whoever using heat detection equipment on a house they didn't have a warrant for. I believe the Supremes threw it out because they needed reasonable cause without the use of the device inorder to use the device... (i'm trying here so bear with me)
So logically if they can't use those devices to detect heat in houses they have no warrant for, they can't use devices to detect RF signals that eminate from people whom they have no warrant for. (I'm PA Dutch, so bare with my language)
Of course using logic for the real world can bite you in the ass.

I'm kind of confused. I thought sorting a hash table would royally f*** it up.
Isn't that the whole point of a hashtable is so you don't have to sort it. Just do some calculation off the lookup criteria and use that to find the entry in the table.
It seems contradicting to say it's a quicksort/hashtable.

Method for exercising a cat...
Patent 5,443,036 granted 8-22-95
This is a real patent.
Basically it states about using a flashlight to move a dot of light around and having the cat chase it.
As far as prior art, Hell, I've been terrorizing cats since I was little.
This is a very bizarre patent.
