What are the two options here? Have the ads so they'll get funded so they can pay for bandwidth or not have ads so they can kiss that revenue good-bye?
Now that I can find out when to get new firmware for my PSP. Can Slashdot also tell me where to get all the cool free software to download! Hint hint. Nudge nudge.
It's a bit misleading to say that it gives the kernel PS3 support. What it does give is Cell support and other PS3 hardware support. The Cell is made for a gaming machine but the design itself is for a more general use. They even have blade servers with them. This is serious Internet Business we're talking about with support from IBM.
Right now you only get frame buffer support so even playing serious Internet games is not really enjoyable. No GPU support yet.
What sane person is going to think that Linux is a gaming platform off the bat? And what is even wrong with that? Is someone going to take IBM less seriously now that they are supporting CPUs that are specialized for crunching numbers and give you stunning real time visuals?
It's really hard to know when to bash the President. You do it before he makes a bad decision and you're a bad American. You do it after he does it and you're a bad American. You do it sometimes inbetween and people tell you to stop drinking Kool-Aid.
I'm okay with taxing the poor too. As it is they don't get punished enough. I think we'll need to work harder on getting rid of public radio (liberal heaven) from all the rural areas. Who cares if it's their only source of news they should modernize and move to the city or something. Lets definately not support spending money on them or ignore them altogether. They're dirty people. We should just not fix their levee. Fixing a levee would be proactive and costly.
Here's one scary moment we all know about: The asian bird flu. I'm glad we're not doing anything about it but it's better to fight the unknown that... well I'll let one of the big guys tell it:
As we know, There are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know There are known unknowns. That is to say We know there are some things We do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, The ones we don't know We don't know.
-- Donald Rumsfeld
I have no idea what that means but I know it's best that we fight them terrorists as hard as we can and forget the known non-terrorist problems. It's the unknown you should be scared about! We'll fight it by fixing social security.
Oh, before I end this thread it's true that I haven't been in the President's place. I have tried to hire my friends to FEMA or the highest court in the land. I haven't sent good Americans to die for nation building even though I thought I said I wouldn't do that. So don't mind me. I have no clue.
Thank you for letting me rant.
If an Anonymous Coward can get a job (and maybe even a date with a liberal arts major) So can you! Get off your lazy ass.
After getting sick of True ads I liked the look

Why Do You Block Ads?
·
· Score: 1
I use to agree with viewing ads. It pays the sites but I will still block anything that pop up. It doesn't matter if it's even something I like. Once it pops I block it. No questions asked.
Then one day I got really tired of the True ads that were nothing but soft porn. I just don't believe that by subscribing to their service a hot woman would automatically have sex with me. Of course if it's a prostitution service then someone correct me so I can join.
Blocking the True ads left this nice empty space and I started liking the look. Then from there my preference changed. Yahoo mail started looking better. Sites were cleaner.
I still view google ads now and then. They're data mining me with my unexpressed permission and I like the ads they give me.
Advertising below: I can't wait for Firefox 1.5 to be released and Flashblock to work with it.
I have my doubts that those who have the 'entitled' attitude are willing to listen. Some of them can't even spell 'you' or other commons words correctly. I doubt they even vote.
Your value system is a bit whacked. Harming another person and poisoning a torrent of a TV show should not have the same value. Lets not compare the two.
This reminds me of when people get really upset at someone and calls them 'Hitler'. It's just blowing it out of proportions.
You should write the article. It doesn't even have to contain any content. The editors and most of the readers won't bother reading the article anway.
Oh, mention how it'll kill Linux. Sensationalist headlines works here best.
I want to write something funny about this article too (which I didn't read) but there's too much competition.
Can we have a repeat of this article so I can try again?
some guy on slashdot says "hi, i have cooked chickens in lava. here are my facts." and it's suppose to be taken as fact at face value? i can agree that he could have given a more diplomatic answer but in real life i think i would have used harsher words.
i wish i was left out. i would be happy to have the antialiasing fonts turned off. so i turned if off system wide on OSX. i squint less now.
bleah. anyway, haven't you heard? the linux desktop is dead. i'm more worried about having usuable applications on linux than weither the fonts are anti-aliased or not.
being codescending isn't okay (and i hope it wasn't just the T-Shirt that got him fired) but there is nothing wrong with RTFM. reading the _fine_ manual is often very educational and if you're directed to one it may actually be a good resource. for example, sometimes you may be requested to read the FAQ which often is politely written and answers more than your question (of course referring someone to the whole FAQ when they only need a section isn't as helpful).
i don't know how many times i had to fix someone's workstation because they didn't read the manual for the random software that they decided was good to install. it wouldn't be bad if they at least tried not repeating the mistake. it makes it frustrating for the person that did RTFM.
you don't even have to read the whole manual. just try to read some of it because it is likely to be as good as the information you're going to get by asking some random person.
so don't take RTFM personally. there are answers in TFMs.
the way i have the height of the imac'a screen adjusted you can't see the base. hell, when i'm using it i don't generally look at the base anyway. all i see is a nice and smooth LCD screen.
the bigger problem to me is the keyboard not having a power button to turn on/off the system. i have to search for it on the base and *then* i have to look at the base. of course, the way i solved this problem is by not powering off the machine. did i mention that i'm using OS X? =)

Dude, only 3 people will get this joke. The rest won't figure out that there are other games besides first person shooters.
To be fair, Google probably hires good programmers. So the quoted statement probably is correct.
Oh my god, I can't believe it was formatted in HTML. I feel like a complete liberal. It's a good thing I can't seem to edit the post.

Hey man, you ragged him about Windows and IE but not about Hotmail? I'm disappointed.

I'm sorry you can't download 'your' TV show.

my card: http://usa.asus.com/vga/agpv9180/overview.htm
it does dual DVI. granted i don't have two LCD displays on them but they do work with the VGA adapters to support dual VGA.
i don't know if DVI is supported in x-windows though.
i, a muggle, would also would like it to be known that i am not a terrorist and enjoy harry potter very much. i read a book a day. fun!
i will pass judgement on the movie till i see it.
okay, as someone who likes fire and cooking, that is neat. and since it's on a webpage i have to believe that it's true!
some guy on slashdot says "hi, i have cooked chickens in lava. here are my facts." and it's suppose to be taken as fact at face value? i can agree that he could have given a more diplomatic answer but in real life i think i would have used harsher words.
the perfect soldier has a man's head and breasts! i would do a double take if i ever saw that on the battle field.
okay, i'm lying. if i was on the battle field i'd be too busy ducking to care weither it was a breasted man shooting at me or not.
it's harder to read when it's trim and fuzzy looking. i switch back to the big, clunky, hard-to-read fonts and my eyes are more comfortable.
i love anti-aliasing in games though.
i wish i was left out. i would be happy to have the antialiasing fonts turned off. so i turned if off system wide on OSX. i squint less now.

People who buy X-Boxen deserve what they get. IE and a kick in the ass.
