250k is plenty of money. I have nice things, most of the income is repeatable every year, so I could technically semi-retire in a couple of years only working 5-6 days a month.
Actually I was fine and happy money wise when i was at 125k, but I just hate to have money sitting around not doing anything, plus this way I get to give more to charity and the like. We are starting a foundation sometime this year, or early next to help elderly get in-home care when they are just out of the range of government help but can't afford it themselves so must stay in a nursing home. (my Fiance's pet project) We will probably give 50-75k or so to that a year at the current level, and if we start making more I'm sure that will go up. We also have several other people willing to donate to it, even before it starts.
Neither of us have the time to run it yet, so we are working on getting an administrator.
So to answer you question, As I find ways to make more money I will do it, until I get to 45, then I'm retiring.:) I will have plenty to help my kids get started once they spend a few years in other jobs learning what working for a living is all about, and what they want to do for the rest of their working career. If I make more then I will be able to give more, and afford a half a million dollar motor home when I retire.:)

I joined the army, put every dime possible into my GI bill (5-1 match at the time) and when I did my time I went to college. I got myself an edumacation, and then started working my ass off to get ahead. (no one ever gets ahead sitting on their behind) I still work for "the man" in a good paying job, and have a side business of my own. (no patents through that business) I make a lot more from my own business, and am probably going to be quitting this job soon. This year I will earn around 250,000. I earn more in a month that my father did at retirement. My kids go to good schools, they have college funds, and I don't feel the slightest bit bad about having "made it". I worked for and earned EVERYTHING I have. NOTHING was given to me ever. Its been a fight, I had to shed a wife who was holding me back with the "we can't do it" attitude, (I was making 60k at that time, had the ideas that are now making me a quarter of a mil a year and could not get her to buy into it) I do hold one patent, that I am still not doing anything with. (I think it cost me total of like $300 including the patent search) I have several copyrighted things (I mentioned copyright because YOU did.)

I personally use alternate email aliases on my mail server that forward to my real account. then, once every couple of months, I delete those aliases and create new ones to post to websites, or use when I sign up for something. Only close personal friends get my real address, and if spam ever does show up directly at that address, I attack the spammer in every way possible. (spamcop, the spam fcc email address, etc)
Seems to work fine for me, and I can keep my mail server up 24/7.

However they go to private school, and get a FAR better education from their friends in the neighborhood who go to public school. The govenment, the last time I checked spend about $5,700 per year per student for public school. I spend $5,000 of my own money to send my kids to private school, and they are FAR more educated than I am at that age, (I went to public school) and miles and miles ahead of their friends who now go to public school. (I have seen their friends homework as my kids help them from time to time, a LOT of "estimate this and estimate that" aka NO WRONG ANSWER. They do get grades, but if you remember from the clinton administration there was a lot of talk about doing away with grades becuase they made kids feel bad. I also know there are some schools in the lefty parts of the world where there are no grades for kids.

Yea, its pretty much only usable if you have your own mailserver. But with broadband and linux many people can have their own mailservers. :)

They do get grades, but if you remember from the clinton administration there was a lot of talk about doing away with grades becuase they made kids feel bad. I also know there are some schools in the lefty parts of the world where there are no grades for kids.

OK, Beyond the fact that a 16 year old is STILL A CHILD, legally, and mentally, and still the responsibility of their parents, don't you think it is the parents responsibility to deal with if it is right and if it is wrong? If these kids go out and use a condom expecting it to work and it breaks and they get a girl pregnant, do you think the school system is going to raise that child? Do you think the two children having the kid are going to raise it? Nope, its going to be one or the other of the grandparents. Does the school system have the right to put that burdon on those people not even in school? Well, according to you they do.
Liberals don't think about the costs of their actions, because they don't want to. Mark my words, it won't be long before NAMBLA starts having rights to have sex with little boys. I'll guarantee it is in the lefts plans somewhere. They nickle and dime all of our rights away. Now, before I say this next bit, I am a non smoker. actually an ex smoker which are the worst kind of non smokers.
A bunch of years ago the left was all like.. we need to ban smoking in the workplace. We don't want to take away anyones right to smoke, but we think people should not have to smell it at work. (fair enough, I sure don't want to) then it became We want non smoking sections in resturaunts. Once again we have NO plans to take away your right to smoke, we only want to be able to eat in peace.(Once again, fair enough. I enjoy eating without smelling smoke) Now, it has became in MANY places, not only LA and NY, but lexington KY where you can't smoke inside anywhere, and in someplace, I can't recall right now and I don't want to bother to look it up because you will ignore this part anyway, you cant' even smoke outside anymore. Also, did you know that truck drivers in california can't smoke in their trucks? even if they are the only ones in it. They must stop their trucks and get out to smoke.
99% of this will be ignored and the rest you will move around to fit your needs, but this just goes to show you that not everyone is as stupid as you think. Some of us know what you are trying to do. You, (liberals) are trying to control every aspect of everyones lives.
