AOE2? Blizzard is making WC3 to be everything that games like that aren't. They put the hard food cap in at 90 to prevent having massive battles and hundreds of units. They want the game to concentrate on fighting instead of researching more techs and base management.
You want longer games when they're already taking you 30 minutes to an hour? How long do you spend on AOE games, DAYS? My games of WC3 are lasting about as long as Starcraft games, 10-20 minutes. If you're getting bored, try out some more aggressive strategies and get the games over faster. Games with constant action are a lot more fun anyway.
The beta only has maps for up to 8 players, whereas the final will have 12 player maps that I'm assuming will be much larger. AI isn't even an issue in the game because the only AI are npc monsters that just stand there and attack if you come near them. The single player AI can't be commented on because the beta doesn't include it to test.
WC3 is obviously made for people that liked Starcraft, not for AOE players.
I'm not sure they ever allowed simultaneous use of the same cd key. I remember plenty of times when battle.net would randomly disconnect me and I'd have to wait a minute or two to reconnect because it would tell me that my cd key was in use (by me).
Diablo 2 supported playing with tcp/ip out of the box, and the latest Starcraft patch added that same functionality in (you could always play either game on a LAN with no cd key checks). Even if you don't have a valid cd key, you can still easily play these games with other people without having to use bnetd. Wouldn't that mean Blizzard is circumventing their own copy protections by allowing this? Not that it's illegal for them to do so, but it would undermine their position in accusing bnetd for doing the same thing.
Mythic did a good job with items in the game in regard to this actually. All special item drops from quests, either NPC story quests or simple "kill the named monster" quests can only be done once per player. There are no spawn timers for uber items. The rarity of monster item drops is also pretty high; you can get any specific item you want in a few hours of killing the same monster type, or at most a day. Plus, Mythic designed items so that player crafted ones will be better than what the monsters drop anyway, so there isn't much real money to be made stocking up on monster drops. Also, items decay with use so if you buy some cool weapon, you're going to lose it eventually.
The site in question only does exchanges for gold and accounts. Buying an account in DAoC is a bad idea because most of the fun of the game comes from playing in a guild, or working with your realmmates in fighting the other realms. If you buy a high level character, people in your realm probably aren't going to like you that much, and thus you'll be excluded from most of the fun in the game.

In the last University survey thing online (lost the url a long time ago), Tech was 3rd in students that studied a lot, whereas UGA was 2nd in the opposite category, total slackers.
That gets rid of the ads all right, but it also causes a window to pop up saying "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page." I don't know what's worse - seeing the ads or having to click 'ok' to even see the page.
"I expect Gamecube to outsell all systems this year and Next year and perhaps be the console to Dominate. If the Marketing remains at this level, and Xbox doesnt get some good games fast, I dont think Gamecube will have any serious competition. PS2 is still in the picture, but they better have an ace up their sleeve or they will go the way of the Dreamcast."
I don't have any hard numbers for Gamecube sales in North America because the system hasn't been out that long and no site really tracks them, but Magicbox has lots of info on the numbers in Japan, which has traditionally been the most important region for gaming.
According to their news on 11/23: "Nintendo of Japan announced that they have sold 510,000 units of GameCube in Japan since its launch on September 14, approximate 710,000 units of software were sold."
The first warning sign there is the small number of titles sold. The system shipped with 3 games there, but it also seems that no one has been buying the new ones. Even Pikmin, the only fun innovative game on the system IMO, has only sold a mere 143k copies. Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 has sold ten times that many!
Gamecube's launch in North America was full of sub-par remake titles (a few fun multiplayer games, but no system sellers), which are now having to compete with a very impressive PS2 selection. The Gamecube started off poorly in Japan, fairly bad in North America, and has nothing special on the horizon. Sony already has top-tier titles out on the shelves; Nintendo doesn't even have them in the making.
Suffice to say, I don't share your optimism for the Gamecube. I'm not sure how the XBox is going to fit into all this, but it looks like another win for Sony.
Someone already made an animated gif for it. I think it's pretty stupid, but some mod out there seems to think AYB is still funny. Bush + Powell + Osama.
Square left Nintendo because they were already treated like crap. FF 2 and 3 (4 and 6) were both censored by Nintendo for American audiences. Anyone remember "YOU SPOONY BARD!"?
The Pres. of Nintendo has no love for Square, and I don't see Square developing on a Nintendo platform any time soon.
"Although he refrained from naming the specific platforms, the game's release will include the Microsoft Xbox and likely the Nintendo GameCube."
Anyone else see something wrong with that statement? Considering those are the only 2 consoles left after the demise of the Dreamcast, it only makes sense. Square is building the PC version of FFXI from the ground up, instead of it being a port like previous PSX->PC FF games. Since the XBox is so similar to the PC, an XBox release only makes sense.
Yamauchi, the President of Nintendo, has been very hostile towards Square in recent years. They jumped ship to the Playstation with FF7 and haven't released a game on a Nintendo platform since. Rumors are that Square is trying to release FF4-6 for the Game Boy Advance, but Yamauchi won't let them! If that keeps up, it may be doubtful that we'll see FFXI for the Cube. Yamauchi has always been strictly against online gaming, and in interviews has actually insulted online gamers. Once he realizes how profitable the market is, he may change his mind, but right now I wouldn't count on a Gamecube FFXI release.
It wouldn't be much of a demonstration if the guy just stood there beside a blank monitor. Gotta have something powerful to seamlessly play 16 dvds at once.

I live in Georgia (a "big" Libertarian state btw), and I can definitely prove that the government does NOT do a good job with roads.
It took the state 2 years to expand a bridge on I-75 a few exits south of mine.
My exit, and the one north and the one south of mine were requested to have the same thing done about 5 years ago. Chances are construction won't begin for another 3 years, and when it does, it'll take 2 more to complete.
Do you think any private company would hire workers that took that long to get anything done? Heck no!
I've been an ISONews.com member for a long time now too, and they, or members of the forums, have never helped me find anything illegal. The site provides.nfo files and lists of releases - just like a newspaper for movie reviews or video games review sites do. They do nothing illegal at all; Sega is wasting their time because even if they take down the DC section, piracy of DC games won't drop at all.
What confuses me is the fact that the villian cannot feel pain or for that matter feel at all. If he had no sense of touch how did he handle nuclear rods and climb ladders? If you've ever fallen asleep on your arms or had your legs crossed the wrong way then you know what it's like to not be able to feel. No way could he have done anything without feeling.
