If the answer to either of those questions is "No", then you better do what they tell you.
Sure, they're violating your rights. But in the United States, you have no recourse except to go to court. Which will costs LOTS of money. More than you have, probably. And don't forget that the cops and TSA will make your life hell while the case slowly progresses.
This country is so fucked.
Agreed. I decided several years ago that here in the U.S. we do not have a "Justice System", we have a "Legal System". One of the main differences is that it costs lots of money to take anything to court. If the other side has lots of money, you will probably lose. And the other side with the money will extend the case causing you to expend more money until you are broke. That, my friend, is not justice it is just legal maneuvering. No justice accomplished, no justice intended. In criminal cases I believe that the loser should pay the court costs for the winner. Then, at least, you can not be financially destroyed because someone with money wants to destroy you.
Unless the present administration wants to destroy the Peace Corps, spying is not an option. I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps. Later, I then wanted to join the Peace Corps. My friends were all sure that I was trying to get into the CIA. They said that the questions ask them for my background check were really deep and detailed. If you have ever been in military intelligence or the FBI you are not even eligible for Peace Corps service. I was accepted into the Peace Corps and I spent three years in the Ivory Coast, French West Africa. Even then the Peace Corps was paranoid about it's image. If one single Peace Corps Volunteer is ever caught spying, the reputation of the agency is destroyed and no country will accept volunteers. We were all encouraged to mingle with locals and to not get involved with the American Embassy people. It's all about image and independence. So if what the article implies were to happen I would destroy the Peace Corps.
Funny thing.
That's the way our U.S. legal system works too. That is precisely how it works. There is no justice, just money. If you have the most money you own "justice".
I wish I had points.
"What did you think American money was made of?"
This sums up a big part of out current economic problem. Printing money 24/7/365.25.
XM and Serius radio are another perfect example of the main problem with the government allowing companies to buy out their competition and control the media stream 100%. There were two of them and they competed. Competition is good for the consumer. The government allowed them to merge into one and now there is zero competition. Besides that there is zero regulation. I had a complaint and I was informed that no one regulates XM/Serius. My problem was that I was paying for three XM radios. I wanted to cancel one as I sold the car that had XM radio. They would not cancel the account. They then auto renewed it. I ended up canceling the credit card and all the accounts. I wouldn't deal with them now for anything.
That is the same thing that happened to me. In eighth grade we started algebra. The teacher taught that you move a term to the other side of the equal sign and magically plus becomes minus and multiplication become division. ??? I was lost. For two years I struggled until someone showed me that you subtracted, divided, etc the term on both sides of the equation and that's how it disappeared from one side and changed function on the other side of the equal sign. I guess I was so frustrated with the procedure that I never noticed the mechanics of the operation. Suddenly algebra was fun and soon became my favorite subject. One bad teacher caused me to struggle for two years. I later taught at the University of Abidjan while I was a Peace Corps Volunteer and I always made it a practice to make sure my students understood the mechanics of what they were doing in my class.
I spent four months on a County Grand Jury recently. The prosecutors I dealt with didn't want to discuss "Jury Nullification" at all. After going through a thousand cases, I believe that Jury Nullification is indeed justified and needed sometimes. In some cases it seems that conviction is far more important to some ADAs than justice. With mandatory sentences and truth in sentencing some people are treated far too harshly in the system. And to clarify, I am not a bleeding heart liberal, I'm very conservative.
If you can qualify, Navy Federal Credit Union is absolutely awesome. It reminds me of what banks were like in the 50s. They truly treat their customers as if they were the reason that the institution exists. I bailed out of Chase two years ago when they started charging $6.00 a month to use online bill pay. Luckily my son was with NFCU and was able to secure me an account. If you can qualify there is no finer banking institution around. You might have noticed that I really like them.
When Chase decided that they needed $6.00 a month for online banking, my computer to talk to theirs, I canceled my accounts. Two checking accounts, a savings account and a safe deposit box. I went with Navy Federal Credit Union. Wow, what an institution. They are like the banks I dealt with when I was young in the 50s. They truly care about their customers. They pay foreign ATM fees, they also pay me.15% interest on my checking. Their credit card interest is below 8% where Chase was and is above 10%, typically 15%. Screw banks. Credit Unions are the only way to go. I am in no way other than service connected to NFCU but I think they are the finest financial institution I have dealt with since the 50s. I should have gone with a credit union decades ago. It's time to put the huge banks out of business.

That's the problem with Liberals. They believe that corporate taxes are paid by corporations. Wrong! The seller just adds the taxes to the price of the goods. Didn't you Liberals listen when you were in school. The cost to make and sell a product is fixed. If you want more money to distribute to the 'lame and lazy' you raise the taxes The company will pass on the cost increase to the buyer. That's us taxpayers. So it's just another way to make ME pay more taxes. It does not take money away from the company. The Liberals who somehow believe there is 'free' money are going to surely destroy this once great country with their socialist redistribution schemes.
We already do that. If you drive more, you consume more fuel. You're taxed on a per gallon usage of fuel. Gas guzzler... you pay more. This is strictly an idea of how to force people to allow the government to monitor their personal movement. It's another loss of privacy. The gas tax does what this says it will do and it isn't invasive. As far as electric cars go. we have things known as KWH meters. Build it into the car and read it remotely. We do NOT have to give up our freedom to move about freely.
Not a single soul has mentioned what stopped me from using Block Buster. They initiated a corporate policy about 10 years ago where you were charged a late fee even if the movie was returned the same night. It was your word against theirs as most of us dropped the movie into s slot in the door either on the way to work or in the evening after watching it. It was just plain highway robbery. After about five of these "late fees" I told my family we would never use Block Buster again. And we haven't. I'm a conservative capitalist but I think greed had a big hand in killing Block Buster.
Here in Arizona, the Governor just signed a law that will take effect 91 days after the present legislative session is adjourned that will allow all non felons to carry concealed without a permit. There are now three states with concealed carry laws that do not require a permit; Vermont, Alaska and Arizona.
Even if it is a 90 year old man saying when he was 20 years old he had sex with a 16 year old girl
Where do you live that has no statute of limitations?
In the United States there is no statute of limitations on sex crimes. That said, the State has got seven years to act on the allegation. So there is a seven year statute of limitations but only after the alleged/crime has been reported to the authorities.

I had the same experience when the Peace Corps sent me to French West Africa. French books use different tenses than spoken French. We spent three months learning French. I could order a meal, rent a car, etc, but I could not carry on a conversation. A friend suggested I buy some French comics. They are all written is 'spoken' French. It helped me a lot. I would suggest to anyone learning a foreign language to read comics in that foreign language.

As to your hope that the punishment will be several hours of community service; in Texas the punishment for a 3rd degree felony is: Third-Degree Felony – If you are convicted of a Third-Degree felony, the punishment range increases from two (2) to ten (10) years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
Community service would be for a misdemeanor crime like a traffic violation. This is a serious law with very serious consequences.

Could I be first the first of the year?
I agree. Rightsholder is like Homeland Security. It just reeks of Natzi Germany. Come to think of it.... That's the way we're headed.

It's more insightful, unfortunately, than funny. But it is funny.
It was Bush's fault.

I repaired 5 tube radios for spending money when I was in High School in the mid fifties. Fond memories.

How about we realize that we are far more likely to be killed by our car or the food we eat then by terrorists?
How about we quit giving away all of our hard won freedoms like a bunch of scared pussies?
