Yeah, I believe they were talking exclusively about - How much of the battery's energy ends up powering the computer? Not - How efficient is the computer itself? The battery idea obviously has all sorts of savings. Rather than using huge batteries and then converting the juice coming from them to AC to power your PSU which then converts it back to DC you just keep a 12v battery in the machine and skip the power conversion altogether. You also avoid long runs between the batteries and the machines themselves.
Here, here, I second this desire for poniez. If you people refuse to supply the poniez I'll be forced to find my own. Sadly I'm not too good at finding poniez. Best I could do was this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsGYh8AacgY&flip=1
Microsoft bought Google today. Bill Gates was quoted as saying, "yo face son!" while manipulating his hands into what appeared be an "M". No comment yet from Google regarding this hostile takeover.
Well that'd explain the other two comments pointing out that this isn't even permanent. It basically means nothing. It's all still temporary. I'm glad I took the time to read the comments before I got all excited about the possibility of sanity returning to American courts.
Where were you for the story about the woman that sent thousands and thousands of dollars to those people running the Nigerian spam scam? One really stupid person with a lot of money makes spam worthwhile. It's practically free for them to send that garbage out and it only takes a handful of responses to make a living off of it.
So are you sad because there aren't going to be more lazy programmers out there? Fine by me. I was sick of the lazy people I dealt with on projects in college. We don't need more of them.
How convenient! Why bother keeping my stuff in a storage unit on earth when I could be storing it in Mir? Why didn't I learn about this sooner? Too bad it's too late to do it now...
Seriously. The new key to meeting cute geek chicks is a netbook? Why haven't I seen that on any of the spec sheets or reviews? I can't believe I've been missing out on this...
I agree. The guy made the right decision. Mythbusters draws a huge crowd anytime they're doing anything. If people had found out they were doing something that involved an explosion those people would have definitely shown up... and then gotten blown up. Yes, it was startling for the towns people... but I think they'll survive.
*sigh* I do miss actual musical dynamics. I listen to some of my older albums and there's a wonderful difference between the volume of the soft intro and the volume and punch of the chorus. Now it's all just cranked to 11.
How have musicians stood for this for so long? You'd think they would hear it after it's been mastered and say, "Put that garbage in the trash and pull out what we originally recorded before you ruined it."
I'd have to agree. I love Left 4 Dead but the crappy servers and the lousy matchmaking have ruined the game for me. I've quit playing it until they really and truly fix this crap. Playing on private group servers is an option sometimes but they're frequently full on a weekend night. Getting half way through a game just to run into a server crash or joining a server only to find it's running all-talk or some other lame setting really drives you insane. I've spent as long as 30 minutes trying to get a server that doesn't lag and has the standard configuration. Anything else based on the same system is going to be just as bad.
For the 5 billionth time on slashdot alone: (let alone the rest of the 'net) Steam does not require an internet connection in order to play a game. You can play in offline mode and games that don't require an internet connection will work just fine.

I concur. My PEBKAC scanner went apecrap when I scrolled by the GP's post.
Now then, anyone hear anything about a patch for this smiley virus?
Captain Obvious to the rescue! Thank God for superheroes! Disaster averted!
Wow, CADIE only asked me to webcam with her but when hers turned on it was just a huge server room. Man, that was disappointing.

It's about time these lazy journalists got with the times.

I don't like your use of the word "precedence". It sets a poor precedent.
Get off of it.
Now why would you go and point that out? You know it's only a matter of time before they "fix" that now. Enjoy it while it lasts!
What, like this?
(1 minute clip - last one or two seconds may not be SFW)
There's a song about you and what you did to some poor captain's wife - http://www.paulandstorm.com/lyrics/the-captains-wifes-lament/
"Officer Grissom, are you concerned about the security of... your shit?"
Oh, you're talking about Crime Scene Incontinence?
What's the verdict on the myth that the Mythbusters can continue to do huge explosions without any collateral damage?
Definitely busted.

Not the whole thing!
