And yet today we have a strong movement of people who insist that we must absolutely follow the original wording to the letter and we should never dare to try to interpret the constitution for a modern era or even attempt to discern the original intent from the authors' other writings.
But this is just for the president. Which is really not supposed to be the most important elected position. if you want to make a difference, then vote for all the other positions out there, house, senate, governor, state legistlature, dog catcher, etc. But by focusing so incredibly heavily on the president a lot of people are confused into thinking they just need to vote for someone on their side and grant that person dictatorial powers.
Hitler was a fascist, which is neither left nor right in outlook, but is a strict authoritarian movement with state control of both the economy and social life, usually a dictatorship and oppression of the opposition. Generally it's considered far right, however I think it doesn't really fit into the traditional left-right model because fascists didn't really express a coherent political ideology beyond an us-versus-them style of thinking. The modern guys on the right are only labeling it socialist as a distraction and part of the "please repeat these talking points endlessly" style of political debate.
It comes from the big takeover of the Republican party starting with Gingrich, who started labeling all Democrats as McGovern democrats, then soon all Democrats were labeled as liberals, and pretty much created the modern day negative campaign style of win-by-any-means.
Also, if you're going to buy a house and want a mortgage, or you want a loan to buy an automobile (even if you plan to pay it off quickly), having a good credit score helps out a lot. You will want that mortgage someday and won't have the cash to pay for it all at once. But if you don't use a credit card then your credit score may not be very good as there's no history of paying off debts promptly and on time. Yes, it's a bit illogical that someone who goes out of his way to avoid debt is seen as a potential debt risk, but that's how things work.
You can possibly get this to work for you without carrying a credit card all the time. Get a credit card then tie it to auto-pay with your utilities service. Ie, credit card pays the utility bill, and your bank account reconciles the credit card automatically at the end of the month.
The key rule is to ALWAYS pay off the FULL balance of the credit card each month. The interest rates on even the best credit cards are ridiculously high. They're the easiest way to get quickly over your head in debt. Try to never have more than one credit card even though you keep getting these amazing offers in the mail. Occasionally you can use another (ie, $1500 off my refrigerator if I signed up for a Sears card) but cancel it as soon as you can.
Gasoline stations very often will give discounts for paying cash. However it's the main place that I use my credit card because the convenience of paying on the spot is worth the extra fee especially if it's in bad weather. However if I'm already in a cashier's line anyway then the extra credit card fee doesn't supply any advantage to me over cash.
Debit cards are not as safe as a credit card. If a credit card is stolen it can be cancelled quickly and any fraudelent purchases dispuated with a cap on damage, the credit card company will take absorb the damage. With a debit card you don't have such protections usually and you can quickly lose a lot of money before you get the card cancelled (make sure there's a spending cap on the card, and refuse all the "you've been upgraded!" increases to the limit. A pre-paid credit card works much like a debit card and may be a good choice for some.
There's an additional issue that using a credit card will help you build up a good credit score while a debit card will not. It's handy for students say, as the parents can have the bill sent to them with a monthly limit on what can be spent allowing them but the child is building up the credit score.
When I grew up the rule of thumb (and sometimes store policy) was no credit cards for anything under $20. So fast food restaurants, ice cream stores, a quick run to the drug store. If you balance your accounts, or try to keep a budget, getting paperwork for each and every misc purchase is a lot of work.
Even in urban areas you need cash. Only in hipster areas do they accept phone payments. Other places certainly take credit or debit cards but cash is more convenient and easier to budget with.
The real lesson is to ignore any and all reviews. Go see the movie if you want to, stay home if you don't. If a movie annoys you then just chill out and don't unleash the bot army.
The hate I see is only coming from the trolls. As for the movie, there's no propaganda in it anywhere, it's just a movie. Deal with it.
White males are not the most persecuted people on the planet yet there are a few who feel that they are under siege, and it's ludicrous. Why is this an issue? Have white males been underrepresented so much that they have to unleash their review-bot army to redress their ancient grievances? The video game industry wants to market to everyone, so of course lets add some games where the girl is the hero, or a minority, etc. So what? Why does that generate so much rage? Play a different game. Watch a different movie. Don't go into some holy war over something so stupid.
If white males actually were so underrepresented that you don't see white males in governments, no white males in movies as the stars, white males being underpaid, and so forth, then I can understand the anger. But white males are still on top - maybe not 100% of them, but certainly on average they're on top.
As for games - checking the Steam store just now for games on sale or being features or new releases, the use of white male figures in the marketing shots (where you can see faces) white males are well represented despite the video game industry actively trying to get a broader audience. And just googling for "new games" many of the images that do have females they're often underdressed or anime loli stereotypes. Checking gamestop upcoming releases, the featured game features a male (looking white but in Anime style so is probably Japanese).
Whether DST results in waiting for the bus in the dark depends on location. Time zone borders are drawn in very strange ways, and sunrise for one person can be over an hour different from another person in the same time zone.
And in winter when there's no DST, there just aren't enough daylight hours anyway to cover both waiting for the bus going to school or walking home from the bus after school.
This is slashdot. Everyone here is automatically an expert in all fields. We've got so much expertise that normally we can render a quality opinion based only on a headline. There's really not much reason to even hire scientists any more since any new scientific discovery will be shot down within minutes of appearing on slashdot.
Did you just read the headline, or only read the summary? Read the article maybe. The patient died the next day, the phone call was made apparently soon after getting the MRI results and the phone call was in the evening and the doctor had presumably gone home. So, wait until the next day to give an update to the patient, do a voice only call, or do a video call?
For me I'd rather get the news sooner that the condition was inoperable. More time to get other family notified. The real fault was that this was done without having an additional medical professional in the room at the time which was standard procedure for the hospital.
The full story is that the doctors did see the patient earlier in the day, and the patient died the next day. The doctor said he had just received the MRI results. Unclear if the same doctor saw him earlier in the day or if it was other doctors.
So, wait until morning to give the news, or give the news immediately? The fault here seems more with not having a nurse or other professional in the room at the time (which was the standard procedure).
People need to read more than the headlines and summaries.
Well, the doctor *did* speak to the patient in person earlier that day. I presume later when the doctor was at home he got the test results and decided to use the telepresence bot instead to get the news out more quickly rather than waiting a day (and the patient did die the next day).

Sad story.
I heard they were going to be delivering the internets right to our door with a drone!

And why buy their games? I see "ubisoft" anywhere and I avoid it like the plague.
I can agree there. They're really getting tiresome.
Who's being attacked?

Naw, Kaiser Permanente is a great system. Lower cost but with good care and preventative medicine.

It was being done because the alternative was a phone call or waiting until the next day. The "robot" was just a video phone on wheels is all.

Well, I think with his logic he only cares about losing money.
