  1. Re:Fading Apple Star on Apple's Indirect Presence Fades from CES (techpinions.com) · · Score: 1

Well Apple refuses to add touch-interfaces to their non-mobile products, so they can't copy the 2-in-1's, and there hasn't been all that much else for them to copy in quite some time. They've attempted to copy Alexa and the Google Assistant with a $400 speaker... but since they haven't found a company to buy that has decent AI that has proven to be pretty much pointless. Maybe they'll acquire the company the founders of Siri created after selling Siri.

Either way, I'm sure Apple can sit on their laurels and war chest while they wait for something interesting to duplicate, and mark up.

  2. You can have multiple tabs in Firefox Focus, but you have to force it:
Long Tap on a link, <open in new tab>; the bottom Trash Icon becomes #ofTabs.

The Trash Icon should be [+] New Tab, with Long Press as Trash. Or user configurable. It's stupid, but forgiveable.

Other than that, FF Focus is overly eager to wipe your browsing history, which for some may be a negative.

  3. Firefox Focus works even better.

Fuck off dude. I don't buy Samsung devices. The most I'll pay for a phone is $400, and the most I've paid thus far is $350 (Moto X4, which is overpriced as is) -- of which I only bothered with that due to the wife's phone breaking, my Nexus 6 going to her, and preferring to stay on Project-Fi with a supported device that can actually use Sprint's network where necessary.

Otherwise I'd get another $150 - $250 Xiaomi. The Xiaomi Redmi 3s Pro Prime was fantastic for $160 2 years ago.

Have you seen all the extras you get with the various Samsung devices? We're not talking about a $5 pair of iBuds and a "free" USB dongle.

One of the offers for the Note 8 was either:
    1) a free Gear 360 camera, or
    2) a free 128GB memory card and Fast Wireless Charging Convertible

Another offer for the Galaxy S8 included the Desktop dock, Gear VR, etc. Hundreds of dollars of accessories -- it would be like if Apple offered it's $169 bluetooth AirPods for free, which will never happen.

That is said a lot, it's not really true. The cinema was never "cheap entertainment."

The average cost of a movie ticket in 1977 was $2.23, and inflation alone puts that at $9.25 today.

Except the average ticket price is $8.93 in 2017 - multiple sources confirm this.

Remember Pulp Fiction? The $5 shake. Seemed so outrageous, a $5 dollar shake?!

    Inflation bitches.

It's alright. If you aren't trying to stay right on top of live tv, and AFAICT the shows get "released" at some point after the original air-date, and are then ad-free for playback. Also, if you *recorded the show (prior to it being released), just like with traditional DVR's your can skip ahead/back.

It's much more convenient from a PC than mobile, or "casted" mobile. Though that's true for almost everything.

    * recorded = "Added to your Library, and it has aired."
