Show me a corporation that doesn't have their own interests in mind. I dare you. There isn't a corporation on earth that does anything without expecting to make some form of profit from it, including altruism.
Hard to continue doing something you never really did to begin with.
Seriously, has Apple done anything seriously new since their original PCs? There were music players before the iPod, there were smartphones (with touchscreens!) before the iPhone, the Macbook Air should never have been made... Jobs basically takes great ideas that have already been done and stylizes them to death.
AMD is fine. They are having a rough spot that is worse than the ones Intel goes through due to Intel being far more diversified. People in these comments touting the death of AMD are being melodramatic.
Ooh, here's an idea: Pirate music until the industry dies (supporting the artists through concert attendance in the meantime), then when artists go independent, buy their music THEN! That way they make even MORE money! What a novel idea! See: Nine Inch Nails.
And you seriously think that this isn't what they usually do? I personally don't mind if they take a few minutes out of the day to share some thoughts on release topics such as version numbering.
No, the "largest possible market" is cross-platform, as that usually includes Windows, Mac, and Linux, and these are pretty much the main players (even with a large lead for Windows).
No kidding! A corporate move in increase its own sales!? HERESY!

Actually, most Apple users don't give two shits, just like most Windows users don't give two shits.
I don't think I want to take advice on jokes from the guy who missed it. Thanks, though. ;)
Says the guy bringing out "stfu"....
obligatory whoooooosh.

Free for whom?
After that post, I'm questioning whether or not you even understand what the dot com bubble was.
Joke's on you--now I'm considered "insightful", I suppose.
I'd love to hear you justify that. This article clearly warrants a "What. The. Fuck."
I can't believe, surrounded by posts about Jews, I'm the one being modded troll...
The.
FUCK.
How will I know whether I want to support the artist by attending a live show if I never hear their work? I'm determined to support them in SOME way.

I'm surprised at the phrase "many subscribers". Hellgate London was god-awful, and overhyped to death.
I guess my code is frankly none of your damn business, then.
The only "quality" Steve Jobs understands is being a "quality" pain in the ass. Repeat after me: "Steve Jobs is not developer jesus".
Does that give you jollies?
I highly doubt that kernel developers at Apple are concerned about the GUI either.
So what's the spanish phrase for mouth-to-mouth, then?
