I have one pluggin - google toolbar - probably one of the most popular I would imagine, and it was broken -- for a security update?
We are a small company of about 20 people and because of this crazy release 6 week policy and updates with no concern for plugin compatibility we had to ban firefox from the work place and go back to IE . . .
Foolish people like to convince themselves this is true, but the reality is that if you raise income tax to Reagan era levels, you will raise about $800B/year.
Our deficit is $2.2T
So the question is, where are you going to cut the other $1.4T?
So, because restoring tax rates to Reagan era levels will only erase 36% of the debt - not 100% - we should ignore that as an option - obviously.
To me the most troubling part of this issue is what VUPEN does... from their web site -- "Exclusive and sophisticated exploits for Law Enforcement Agencies". So, the reason the exploit is not being made public is so that Government agencies can use these exploits to install keyloggers or whatever they choose on whatever computer they which to target and monitor.
Actually no it not - if the bots are sending spam - that MUST be done on port 25 to the target mail server.. if that port is blocked, it cant deliver its payload to other mail recipients.
On the surface, this does not seem like a bad idea. If the drone is just capturing video of what is out in the open for all to see anyway, I don't have a problem with a drone recording it.
What is a bit troubling is that we know that some of the military drones have infrared capability -
so it would be possible in theory for one of these drones to be equipped with the same capability,
allowing it to look directly into buildings and homes.
Any time you post something to any social networking site, you should imagine yourself on a podium in giving a presentation in front of millions of people. If you would be embarrassed to say it on stage, don't post it, because they are effectively the same thing now.
In a bad economy, pure science and space exploration seem to be first on the budget chopping block. However the information learned and technology developed while performing these activities quite often lead to innovations that fuel the economy for years to come.
It would be interesting to know, out of the folks that still go to movie theatres, how many of them go to see them in the imax format. With many families having big screen tvs at home, I'm sure many of them (as I do) wait until it comes out on dvd. The one exception to that is if its a movie I'm interested in watching and its at an imax theatre, as the imax experience with a 6 story movie screen is hard to replicate at home.
The year of the Linux Desktop has come and gone without much notice.. it was 2008. The desktop will be windows/mac for the foreseeable future, unless something new and compelling takes the stage, which is very possible. Just look at the iPhone - Apple came out of nowhere to dominate the smartphone market in a 2 year timeframe. We may see a yet-unknown or underrated player do the same with the desktop. Microsoft has stumbled with Vista, leaving an opening.
It seems like it would take an analytical mind to carry out any type of effective terrorist campaign, and it would also take an analytical mind for scientific study. This in itself is not surprising.
However the pool of people with analytical minds is so large, you obviously cant draw the conclusion that people in the field of engineering are statistically more likely to be involved with terrorism.
We all know that Canada is the 51st state.
Fumble fingers - meant to type NAS.
Sure you did.

Someday soon a politician will post what appears to be a benign photo with an embarrassing long/lat location.

This made me laugh a little :)

Correction - removed from 64bit Vista & 64bit Windows Server 2008. I forget that people still run the 32bit only version :)
Acutally, the debug command was removed in Windows Vista & Windows Server 2008.
As someone who street raced in a previous life and has been drag racing for 25 years, why is this interesting?
Maybe to fulfill someone's childhood dream of "beating the fuzz".
All this talk of swines, avians, and now Pan(demic)s make me hungry for bacon & eggs.
I question this data .. they have iPod and iPod Touch listed as operating systems . . .
Simple solution, put a telescope in your back yard, and E-Merlin will hook you up with fiber asap!

I thougth the a key feature of java was "write once - run anywhere". Dont blame the developer if a new JVM breaks a java app.
You can resume from sleep/hibernation in windows as well, that is as close to an instant boot as you will get with modern operating systems.
That is not much protection at all .. you just need to copy the executable from the USB drive to a local drive and then execute it there.
I dont think it was a mod down .. he has a history of troll comments and his karma has suffered as a result.

But the converse could be true.
