  1. I have had problems too... on China Bans Horror Movies · · Score: 1

I, like the Chinese government, have had problems with skeletons in World of Warcraft. Damn things keep killing me. :( How I loathe the ghost runs...

  2. When I saw this... on Users Worldwide Feel Internet Is 'Safer' · · Score: 1

My reply was "Safer than WHAT, exactly?" I've come up with a list of things that are safer than the internet: Harlem. Bagdhad. Suicide Machines. Unwashed store produce. Seriously, considering you can't even trust the companies that claim to produce anti-malware (some of which actually install malware), and there are millions upon millions of more idiots out there than there was 10 years ago... how can you say it's safer? I remember back in 1997, when you could log onto IRC or a Q2 server on Thanksgiving Day and everything was LITERALLY twice as fast just because no one else was around. Back when the worldcom routers would go down and half the internet would just disappear. It's impossible to make the case that more users = more safety. Quite the opposite.

  3. In before... on Court Says You Can Copyright a Cease-And-Desist Letter · · Score: 1

this gets overturned in a higher court.

  4. Re:Why do they even have this much power? on Warner Sues Search Engine, Tests DMCA Safe Harbor · · Score: 1

If America has shown us anything, it's that we can legally sue anyone we please, for any reason, either real or imaginary. WINNING based on legal merit is a whole other story.

  5. Microsoft's corporate dominance... on Firefox Struggling to Compete as Corporate Browser · · Score: 1

has been ongoing for a long time. Microsoft is a widely-known brand, even among non-computer users, hence why company heads are reluctant to stray from the flock. Firefox hasn't been around nearly that long, and for the first years of its life was regarded as a "rebel's" product--- something you use just so you're not using an MS product. It hasn't been but for the last few years that Firefox has come into its own and widened its base, instead of being seen as some "hippy crap." Give it time, people will come around. Branding isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. As more and more security flaws pop up that are caused by Outlook and IE, people will start seeing the light.

  6. Apparently... on FBI Wiretaps Canceled for Non-Payment · · Score: 4, Funny

Invading our privacy and violating the Constitution isn't nearly as profitable as one would think.

  7. Re:There's a reason for it. on Wonder Woman Gets a Woman's Point-of-View · · Score: 2, Insightful

Soap Opera stories + violence = comic books. And pro wrestling.

  8. Netscape on AOL to Shut Down Netscape Support/Development · · Score: 1

Anyone remember a few years back when Netscape tried to reinvent themselves as an ISP or some crap like that? So long, Netscape, there was a time when you were our IE alternative.

  9. Collusion? on Jack Thompson Claiming Games Industry in Collusion with DoD · · Score: 1

I don't think that Jack Thompson's problem is that there's collusion between the DoD and the gaming industry. I think the problem is that there's DELUSION between Jack Thompson and reality. Being insane can be quite a hard pill to swallow. (in before Jack Thompson sues me for calling him a crazy person)

  10. Natural Phenomenon or First Strike? on Black Hole Fires at Neighboring Galaxy · · Score: 1

The creatures that are responsible for this will destroy us all!

  11. Re:It's funny on MTV: 2007 Borked the Music Industry · · Score: 1

For some reason, Nickelback plays in my head when you say that part about "safe" rock.

  12. It's funny on MTV: 2007 Borked the Music Industry · · Score: 4, Interesting

Some of the stuff in the article had nothing to do with piracy, even though that's the implication: * Kelly Clarkson's album was BAD. Terrible. * Jordin Sparks is NOT talented. * Radiohead ignores the fact that one would imagine that even if their album sucks, alot of people would still get it for free. People have a higher tolerance of crap when it's free. * Island Def Jam's layoffs are likely a result of the slower economy. The record execs are one of the last groups that still piss money away on excess. * How did the Madonna deal have anything to do with music? Does she even sing anymore? * Yeah, gg music dude. "The music industry has no technologists." It's only been 8 years now, you might wanna consider that. That's like saying you company doesn't believe in telephones, or thinks that taking pictures of the artists will steal their souls. In fact, the entire music industry needs to get with the times. * Nine Inch Nails is still around? Huh. Music has stagnated, the fanbase has risen against that crap that they shove down our throats. It's funny, because country music is bigger than it's been in years--- the genre has evolved where teeny-bopper pop and "rock" music have failed to do so.

  13. fair use on Chuck Norris Sues Publisher, Tears Don't Cure Cancer · · Score: 1

Wouldn't this fall under the category of parody? I mean, all the publisher should have to do is put a disclaimer on the front to the effect of "This book is not affiliated with Chuck Norris." It should be clear to anyone reading those "facts" that they're not true. This should be thrown out of court, and Chuck should be laughed at. In fact, he's done a bit of parody of his internet fame himself--- that Huckabee ad ("How would I deal with terrorism? Two words- Chuck Norris) clearly exploits it. Go back to curing cancer, Walker Texas Ranger.

  14. Smaller Companies will market one too. on Toshiba Builds Ultra-Small Nuclear Reactor · · Score: 1

I can't wait until I'm watching Ron Popeil hawk the Nuke-O-Matic 5000. If I call within the next ten minutes, they'll send me a second nuclear reactor for just $19.99, you know.
