My kids are considerably younger, but I installed Doudou Linux on an old netbook for them to learn how to navigate and use the mouse and keyboard. They are 4 and 2 and love using TuxPaint and some of the puzzles in the GCompris Educational Suite.
It would be used as birth control. You wouldn't need condoms or the pill if you hook up after a night of partying when you're 22, but you'd still be able to have kids in the future. But it would never work from a technical standpoint.
I've been using Lubuntu 11.04 on my Asus S101 EeePC with the 32GB SSD, and it has been great. Way more responsive than standard Ubuntu. And more stable. The battery life still sucks, though that might be a knock against Asus since the battery life has sucked since I was running UNR on it a couple years ago.
I agree with this person. Although I haven't seen a copy since I moved out of my parents' house in 2004, I had been a subscriber since early 1998, and thought it was a great magazine. Sure, the writing had some elements of immaturity, but I thought for the most part the magazine was put together well and still had a ton of good content. And rags are still great for reading on airplanes, subways, the throne, etc.
Shame to see them go under.
This is completely impossible for people who like to watch live sports, though, without paying for the packages like MLB.TV, etc.
I'd love to ditch Comcast, but it is the only good way to watch sports for now, so I deal with their shenanigans.
There is no NEED for E-voting. 12-24 hours to handcount paper ballots is sufficient and also enough to have the counting audited/supervised by independent parties.
The problem then becomes, 'How do we determine who is an independent party who is unbiased enough to give us a truthful audit?' Other than that little problem, though, I agree with you fully.
If you're seeking out apps from the "age five and under" category, you're an awful parent.

Oh come on, somebody mod this as funny! It isn't informative in any way, but a good joke, if you ask me. Which nobody did, but nevertheless...
I was wondering the same thing...wish I had some mod points...

"At the risk of sounding lax, if some guy has a gun in his ass crack, do you really want to confiscate it?"
