Another factor that wasn't considered in TFA: airports tend to be built 'way out in the country, where there aren't a lot of local residents to complain about the noise. Typically, the thousands of acres an airport needs are carved out of prime agricultural land. And if the airport is built next to a major population centre, how do you put a price on the degraded quality of life suffered by thousands of people who have to endure the constant din of landing jets roaring overhead?

South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster says Craigslist deserves to be prosecuted because the site is like "...a hotel or motel owner that knows prostitution is going on on their premises and fails to do anything about it, especially after having been told."

Perhaps Mr. McMaster himself should be prosecuted. Prostitutes openly flaunt their wares on the streets of every major city in his state, yet McMaster has failed to limit their activities in any meaningful way. If he put half the time and effort into cleaning up South Carolina's sin-soaked streets as he has attempting to prosecute a glorified Want Ads site, perhaps that situation could be improved.

Bad post...I wasn't clear. My point is that the reflexive reaction, no matter what it is, isn't the one that has a lot to do with a long-term pair bond. A sexy picture of the significant other is going to conjure memories of an actual physical relationship. A sexy picture of somebody hot might be stimulating, but it can't replicate the memory of something that has actually happened.

I understand women's shelters are a good place to focus on. Google apparently labours under the misapprehension that any half-decent stalker wouldn't be able to find out everything they want to know from a car, a fleeting glimpse of a sweater (Alt-Prt Scr), or a characteristic body-type/tattoo, so you might just as well make a real dog's breakfast of it and set up a camera outside a place like that and supply the GPS coordinates.

Sorry...you didn't deserve that, but I the point needed to be made. I know a girl who was stalked by somebody who knew their way around the web, and managed to find her from a Facebook picture that showed somebody's back yard.

What you want to do is fine, just use a little common sense. If I were thinking about a project like that, I'd be inclined to set up a camera on a deer trail. Just about every kind of wildlife that likes an easy path through the bush uses them.

When Google alleges that what they show is no different from what could be seen by a person walking down the street, they miss the point. That hypothetical viewer is also part of the scenery...and can be seen. For example, someone lurking in the area of a women's shelter would run the risk of being noticed and identified. Google allows such a person to stalk their victim safely and securely, and merely blurring faces and license plates wouldn't prevent an abuser from identifying their victim with ease.
