I heard there's a game where you can carjack people and then run them over with their own car, leaving blood streaks on the road. You can then pull your car up to a prostitute, pay for her services, then get out of the car and cave her skull in with a baseball bat and take your money back.
Kinda makes the getting shot with a gun seem a little nicer by comparison.
Actually, not a bad way to poison a bot's intelligence. Its been done before, with hilarious results (well, if you like 4chan-style humor), with a chatbot called Bucket. It was designed to pick up the basics of the English language and conversation techniques from random internet users.
I've been hard-working member of an IT staff for a while now, and I do sometime feel as though all the glory has been sucked out of a "glory hole" of some sort.
We really should have a staff meeting about it. Firm action is clearly needed.
"Frequent contributor Bennett Haselton writes with an idea that he thinks could help keep broswing on Microsoft's browser more secure for users -- and benefit Microsoft as a result."
I have an idea that I think could help keep Slashdot from embarrassing itself even more than failing to ask Blizzard about bnetd - use a spellchecker.
I stopped contributing to Wikipedia years ago. If you write an article, no matter how well-written, there's a good chance over 9,000 deletionists will pop up and go "HURR HURR NOT NOTABLE" and either speedy delete, prod, AfD, or some combination of the above. Those who cannot create instead focus on destroying.
I'm looking to have fun in a way that is utterly disconnected from the real world. Civ4 is about as "educational" as I'd be willing to mess with. It gives you the history behind the units and buildings in the civilopedia, but that history is 100% optional to look at. If the game stopped me with a message like "Did you know that ancient bronze-age spears can take down a B-17 bomber if they're thrown real hard?" it would come across as obtrusive and/or preachy.
"Having netbook manufacturers ship netbooks with 7+ year old Windows XP pre-installed surely deterred some from joining the ranks of households with the small, light and portable netbooks."
Who, exactly? Anyone who doesn't know what they're doing will blindly buy anything. Anyone who DOES know what they're doing will install any OS they like.
Or was the submitted actually suggesting that netbook buyers were actually LOOKING for Vista?
Anonymous hates people, but loves cats (as evidenced by Caturday and the entire "lolcats" phenomena). Their most recent target is the evil Cheyenne Cherry, who put a kitten in an oven and roasted it alive. Anonymous went through a lot of effort to get as much info as possible, but jumped the gun at first. The NY Daily News reported a 75-yo retiree with a similar name had her phone number posted, and the result? "They're all saying, 'You'll burn in hell,' 'Who the hell do you think you are?'" Bernadette Cherry, 72, said of the 75 calls from cat lovers."
If the small local ISP is screwing up, and refuses to respond in any useful way despite your best repeated efforts, it sounds like its time to take your business elsewhere, maybe to one of those large ISPs you mentioned. And make sure you tell them WHY. Who know, maybe the threat alone will be enough to get them to make a sudden change in policy for you, with a month or two of free service to boot.
So which version of Windows 7 was tested? TFA does not specify. Was it X64?
Who installs the most crapware?
My mother does.

Then 4chan found it.
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Bucket has the full story, along with quotes and screenshots.
Robot spiders? In MY colon?
It's more likely than you think.

That's funny, The Onion just ran a story on this very topic: http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/dhs_sets_security_alert?utm_source=b-section
Encrypt everything.

Scala is so kawaii! ^_^
Except that Blizzard isn't forcing anyone, in ANY county, to play their games. The Japanese didn't really give anyone a choice.

1) Bring back HARDWARE emulation of the PS2. Not the software version (which isn't even offered anymore).
2) Drop the price.
That is all. Do that and I'll buy. Seriously.

Good work. So far as the people who gave the "wrong" answer are concerned, you've proven that math nerds are also sex perverts.
So, what's the difference between this and a neighborhood watch? No, seriously, I'm asking.
The Valeyard is a future and presumably final regeneration of The Doctor who turns to EVIL in order to extend his life.

Wait, Fallout 3 had a story? I thought it was just pointless wandering and about two hours worth of fetching stuff for your father.
The only winning move is not to play.
How about a nice game of chess?

I'd be willing to take a pill everyday, but I HATE needles. I'll just stick with condoms for now.
Not that one ought to just whip it out if you're on these injections anyhow - I'm pretty sure they can't block disease like a condom can.
