    ...then you deserve whatever punishment those who lives you put at risk decide. So tired of seeing people die or otherwise have their lives ruined due to inebriated thought processes. I don't hate drunks, I hate drunks who maim and kill.

    Yes, drive when drunk and get your life ruined. Why would you have a problem with that? I personally believe the same should apply to anyone who drives distracted, including those who text.

    I paid well over $500 for my N900 so not that worried about price. As for site of purchase, no. It would have to be from a well known reseller who has a strong reputation for backing the merchandise they sell.

    Checked both NewEgg and Amazon, no luck. I'll be keeping on eye out on both though because I'm really interested. I love my N900 I'm realistic enough to know that it won't live forever.

    Guess I was "lucky"? I bought mine 2009, paid full price for a no contract one and as I stated above, it is working just fine! Oh sure there are a few scratches on the screen a couple of the keys but it still just does what it was designed to do. It really makes it easy to hang on to the better part of a thousand waiting for something decent to come along replace it.

    Joke all you want, but my N900 is still going strong and I have yet to see anything decent to replace it. Even the supposed pretenders claiming to supercede it refuse to build its "successors" with an equivelent fantastic hardware keyboard.

    Are you kidding? Everytime I disable my ad blocker I cringe from the pain of being subjugated to animations and even sound designed to divert my attention away from the content I came to enjoy.

    No, this is wrong...totally wrong. HR departments need a way to filter out all the partiers and drunkerds. Facebook has become their number one tool in choosing which employees to discriminate against.

    I find it interesting that you didn't use the phrase "protect the individual". In order for an person to be empowered a person must be protected from those who would remove that power. Hell, we see many here who would support a system that would favor a system that offers no protection against entities who want nothing but to profit from their loss.

    "Thanks, here's a couple of bucks for gas".

    That is ride sharing. Uber, Lyft, and the others are arranging drivers for hire. Just pointing out the obvious here.

    Isn't the bottom line here though to protect the riders? Even it takes being cleared in a thousand jurisdictions, no one should be allowed to be put in a position where they could harm another if they have ever done so in the past.

    It should be law that the management of companies who place the lives of others in danger without performing due diligence to screen their subcontractors and employees will be subject to the same punishment as those that they subcontract to to provide services for the crimes their subcontractors or employees commit.

    Science limits people with its rules that facts must be proveable. Art has no limits, and allows people to explore everything that can be imagined. Both have there place though, and it would be a shame for market forces to favor one above the other.
