Your correct that false alarms with bad monitoring device is worst than no detection at all. False alarms will like cry "wolve" when there are none and the alarms will become meaningless and when a real thing occurs no one will listen to you. However I beg to differ with you about banning any device that is not working properly. If you have a monitoring device that you have bought with good tax payers money the device should work properly and NYC should go after the manufacture to make sure these monitoring devices are working properly with any extra expense to the NYC, DHS or any other organization. Like any good monitoring device there is a certification organizations like the National Bureau of Standard that can check and certify the equipment is up to standard.
This can work both ways. The girl can have this and blind or burn your equipment. If this can burn with just being in the proximity of the flashlight then this will destroy any object (ie eyes, CCD, etc.) if pointed at any binocular or other light intensifying equipment.
Just like those "magic" missing seconds of the those tapes that Nixon has reminds me of what GW Bush is doing to all of us. It is a pity that we don't have time to a impeachment hearings and finally impeachment proceedings before GW Bush is out of the office. Also the democrats don't have enough backbone to do start these proceedings so we have next generation Nixon in the White House. If any of us system administrators did overwrite or destroy backup tapes at any company that SEC monitors we would be in prison.
Here is a few more. In Fuji: Hang ten dude! In Inuit: Don't tangle with that seal. In Wookie: What the *^$^&#@ where you thinking of! In Ewok: You stink! In Klingon: Wow! What wonderful sex!
Pharmacies, porn sites, stocks, inheritances and other junk I have which constitutes about 90% my raw incoming mail to my mail server so they can read all of that. I wonder what method of spam filtering will they use?
I'm not holding my breath on this one and if I did I'll look like a Smurf.
The RIAA will re-incarnate into another form so that the RIAA as is is now will become something else doing something similar under a different name like ASS (Association of Seventy-Eight Service).
Like many children that are bright they need a good outlet of these talents. However in "their" society there is no outlet of this so these children do these "misdeeds" to show how smart they are. Like any society some of us don't want to allow an good outlet for these people that are talented in other fields, like this child.
Why do we pick on this child? If an bright child could to this then a terrorist can do this also. This child show us that we need to secure these systems better.
Fools tread where angels fear.
I don't think any service or anything will stop ID thief. The problem is the mis-use of the social security number for "identification" purposes even under the law the social security number is not supposed to be used for that. We another method of identification that cannot be duplicated or stolen and that sounds like a tall order but this needs to done so we all can safe from ID thief.
Gee all of this nostalgia of the 1970 and 1980 is scaring me. What about the worst fashions of that era? Polyester shirts, platform shoes and other eye sores. Remember that 1-MB for $100(at 1984 prices)?
I wish to learn from my bad past and look forward now.
I don't think technology will help in this matter of getting more people through the lines. More parallel security lines is the best solution for this since like the freeway more freeway lanes will increase the amount the traffic as long all of the people are moving. Technology will assist in getting more accurate results from searches.
Also getting more trained personnel so idiots don't bypass the security lines so we don't have to empty the terminal and re-screen everyone thus defeating any advances in technology may have helped.
Our rights are going down the drain. We, in the United States, seems to slowly going by the way of an state.
What the heck is the fourth Amendment doing? I hate child porn but there are other methods of getting these people. If this occurs there will be sudden stop of all business travel and it will make the flight stoppage after 9/11 look small. Not every person has porn on their laptops but definitely have important information on those laptops and confiscating these laptops for no good reason will not help.
Like all other new technology devices the "toy" lovers with deep pockets will buy these first just like the iPhone. After a few months and they work out the bugs and increase to 1TB drive and faster speed then I may think about buying one.
I had a Keyzone Kell cabinet for my servers and network gear in my office.
http://www.keyzone.com/tech/kell_cabinets.htm
They are located in England but they are excellent.
You need to make sure you have UPS power to the cabinet and have external 24/7/365 air conditioning to that rack also. The main thing is my office was just above the the data center so that is how they routed UPS power and AC (chilled water system lines) to the rack area. It was very quiet enough that most people never knew that big cabinet was a server and network rack. You should use a remote KVM switch to manage the servers without opening the cabinet except to insert CD and the like.
It is hard to gauge the crossbow bolt's energy and velocity from just the video. It is strange that tip of point was bent in such manner also I never seen that type of point before (I only seen the stuff if the US only). However that does appear to be an "weak" crossbow and it is pity they didn't have a ballistic meter to measure the energy and velocity of the bolt. Also the point of the bolt also affects the performance of penetration of the bolt. If you had a sharp broadhead hunting point it will most likely penetrated that monitor, depending on the power of the crossbow.
Nevertheless that any monitor that take any type of abuse (weak crossbow, hammer and other abuse) is definitely nice.
I would like to see it "launched" in a trebuchet.
We did that to one of last 9-track tape drives we had at my old work place. We used a old roll up garage door opener spring and a series of pulleys and a old flat conveyor (like the one you see at the airport loading planes) and we launched the about 50 feet away. There was pool to see how far it would fly and the proceeds went to Red Cross.

The key words here is "just about".
My mom can't be sued since she won't get cell phone of any sort.
The only iPhone that cannot be unbricked is this one:

I think this is how the lobbyist got into his brain: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS08-001.mspx Firewall or not, they have smash his TCP stack and are exploiting his office.

This sounds like one big bad soap opera and they all should see Dr. Phil. Watch out Britney Spears, here comes the Windows family.

Yes, it will look like iphone sans the display. http://www.willitblend.com/videos.aspx?type=unsafe&video=iphone If you have that type of money available then contribute to /. or some other better cause.

And they used Hellfire http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/agm-114.htm and Brimstone http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/1999/news_release_990823n.htm missiles to destroy those people.

1984 in 2008. George Orwell was correct but several years late. The picture of Big Brother is George Bush or Dick Cheney.
I like my FireWire 800 but would love it at S3200. Backups with this FireWire on my MacBookPro only take minutes.
Most songs on my iPod are larger than that what data can you really fit in a floppy disk so what fuss about?
