Which is...*drumroll*...an illogical and emotional response.
I also like how he claims to be logical and then trots out endorsements of Reaganesque economic theories right in the face of all historical evidence of their effectiveness.
That's not what I meant at all and I don't think that's what the GP meant either. Twisting any action to make it sound selfish is exactly what I was saying this is not.
No I think the GP's argument makes sense even if the words he uses make it sound horrible. The person who would give up their life to protect others is doing it because they would rather protect others than live to see them die. At a lower level, they're doing what pleases themselves - "selfish" isn't really the right word.
I was thinking it would be more likely to be used in drone-launched flechette missiles. If it reduces the number of non-targeted "suspected militants" killed then maybe it's a good thing.
Automobiles are a unique situation. The law that makes you responsible if somebody commits a crime with your car applies ONLY to cars. It doesn't apply to ANYTHING else.
If I loan you a gun, for legitimate reasons (or so I thought), and you go out and kill somebody with it, I am NOT legally responsible.
If you lend someone a vehicle and they kill with it it's your fault, but if you lend someone a weapon and they kill with it, it's not? Vehicles are the things that carry this special liability? Further proof that the legal system is nuts.
Yep don't forget all the hackers who have been given a hard time, most notably Moxie Marlinspike who had all his devices confiscated. I'm starting to think that if I flew into the US they'd have so many questions to ask, they'd send me to Gitmo for an extended interview.
This. The supposed universal influence of supply and demand is a big load of idealism, it's very rare to see the effect on consumer goods. Usually any gains to be had in supply/demand effects are extracted in B2B transactions at the raw material to minor component level. The true arbiter of price in capitalism that's relevant to consumers is "what the market will bear."
You can market it as a "recreational sound amplifier" to skirt the regulations entirely Mr. Randroid. Seems preferable to the Somalian health care system.
Agreed, I now see the entire legal system as basically a well-organized oppressive group of religious zealots who will call me a witch for any of a number of rock-fuck stupid reasons, I just try to look like a normal puritan to them and ignore their stupid doctrine.
No way they would do that for cars and phones that desperately need more power. Well, Apple might because thinness is their #1 priority.
Depends on the car, I've had my Samurai nearly windshield-deep in water a few times with no problems :D
The Tetragrammaton Council also approves.

The omnipresent fear-mongering works against the image of a spock-like conservative as well.

Kneel before this work of genius! 8-|

We can call it Light Type-R!
XD
If he's a Gen. Y'er with student debt and he's netting 60c per year, he's not doing too bad.
No but you could call yourself a terrorist.
And they only have the 3rd cleanest prostitutes in the region.
Most laptops have a hardwired LED that comes on when the camera is powered up. It gives you less than a second to get out of the way though.

It's a COMMAND CENTER!
...comes when Windows destroys itself? Hardly feels like an achievement...

D'oh, beaten.
For once PC gaming is supposedly gaining while consoles are dying...I guess you can only predict the death of PC gaming so many times.
Well there's your answer everyone. Mystery solved.
