Anyway, for all we know, her faster computer didn't have DMA. And, I do get skipping sometimes in RH9, but I don't have that problem in Mandrake 9.1 (on an Athlon XP 2100+).
That said, BeOS is -very- fast on older hardware, I think that is the point she was trying to make.
I see -so- many things modded up today that are wrong. The 970 uses VMX or something, which is justanother way to say it uses Altivec. Its -VERY- easy to check and see that it's altivec compatible.
I run MacOS X exclusively now, both at home and at work. Luckily, my employer lets me use my own laptop, so I bring my new 1GHz TiBook to the office. Sure, I could use their Win2k laptop, but they only offered me a 1GHz one, so I'm quite glad I can use my Powerbook instead.
As for how I can use it fine? Well, I do internet security work, so most tools that I need run on OS X. For papers, presentations, etc., I have a copy of Office v.X, and Photoshop 7 that I also have to use sometimes.
I don't know if it will work on these, but on the last models you could make some changes to Openfirmware and get some non-restricted video output finally.:)

10.2 and 10.1 are vastly different in authentication for this purpose. The PDF file on Apple's site doesn't talk about 10.1, so it isn't exactly useful, nor are the myriad of stupid Google search results people are posting.
Instead of telling peoplt to search first, you might want to do a bit of background checking yourself first!
I just got my phone last week and haven't noticed any issues. I'm on ATT Wirless in Chicago...
What lag on the interface? Maybe I need something to compare it to, but I don't notice any interface lag at all, and the interface is easy to use and read, imho, of course.
As for reception, it's fantastic for me in Chicago. I used to have Cingular here with a Nokia 3360, and the t68i with ATT has much better reception, even in this office tower where I usually get no signal or 1 bar on the old Nokia.
Not sure if its just new firmware or what, but I love the phone so far...
I have the t68i, just got it last week, actually. I'm using it with AT&T Wireless in Chicago. So far the reception isn't any worse than the Nokia 3360 I have with Cingular here. Actually, I get better reception in my downtown office tower than I do on the Nokia. Also works at home fine, and I live in the far Northwest suburbs.
I know it depends on your market area, though. I've also heard that the newer firmware versions work better.
I'm a natural redhead (really bright, dark red), and my ancesters are from Norway.
At any rate, I've had dentists mention they can't believe how much novacaine they've had to give me. Also, I recently had some major surgery and the anesthesiologist actually commented on me being a redhead since he'd noticed we had a lower pain tolerance than most (this was at a major US hospital. shrug).
Interestingly, in my family, there are quite a few redheads (on the Norwegian side at least), and most of them are female for whatever reason, although it seems to always skip a generation (unless both parents were redheads).
I think this is only in regards to MPB (possibly). I know that my family has a ton of redheaded women in it, and none of us ever had thin hair or anything similar.
Can't comment on males though, I don't know if there has been a male redhead in a few generations. (Yes, norwegian decent...)
I live in the burbs too, and I've moved 3 times in 5 years and had cable almost as long, and even DSL once. (I had cable way way back when MediaOne even first started testing in this area).
But, I know the -far- western suburbs have high speed access problems...
IBM already licensed the technology. There isn't any reverse engineering involved here. However, I think they'll call it VMX as opposed to just altivec.
The person is making a joke about a character on the Muppet Show (it was on TV in the late 70s and early 80s I think). There is a Swedish Chef charcter that says "bork, bork, bork".:)
I have a B&W 400 at home, and that is only 50mhz faster... It is certainly acceptable, and the gui isn't any slower than X is on the k6-2 500 downstairs...
Of course, use 10.1.5, it seems much faster on the ATI cards.
First, they only make G3s for Apple currently. Also, Macs use PC133, and the newest server line uses DDR. They do need to work on the processor side though, supposedly the CPU itself can't interface with DDR, so a lot of the bandwidth goes unused.
I can't comment on the move and X resources and all. But I found the last version VERY tedious to manage. I couldn't figure it out at -all-. I never figured out how to just get a real list of all themes or other items...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Is this a joke piece, seriously, I want to know!?!?!?!
Oh come on.
Apple isn't going to release new computers that are more expensive than current ones. They already have a power/performance problem!
IBM does have cheap chips, they also produce G3s. It's not like this is a normal expensive Power4 w/tons of cache, etc on it.

Research before you mod on someone...
He had this huge unibrow going on... We called him 'browzilla'. So, you an see that using that name for a browser scares me. ;)
I think Duke Nukem Forever was just a codename for the project to release their original source. ;)
Well, this is obviously a troll, but I'm sort of bored today. :-P
:-P
But, most of the women I know in IT haven't been overweight or ugly.
You make it sound like they all disappeared...
Toshiba makes 1.8" hard drives, and they are used in Apple's iPods. Sizes from 5-20gb currently (no higher yet, I don't think.

I was told this too, I had major surgery last week and they were worried about this same thing in my case. INteresting...

It will have altivec. VMX is what it has, and it is the same thing, just a different name.
I live in the burbs too, and I've moved 3 times in 5 years and had cable almost as long, and even DSL once. (I had cable way way back when MediaOne even first started testing in this area).

We have a B&W G3 at 400mhz and home, and as long as you use 10.1.5 it runs quite fine, imho. Also make sure it has 512 ram.
I guess the Rev A. is a bit slower though...

I work for the company in question...
They actually have cash and aren't out of money, I'm pretty sure they did this to help inflate stock prices due to the reverse split.
Being a public company often has its disadvantages...
This is the 2nd paycut, this time a lump sum, though....really harsh.
