I mean 2 objects collided in a 400Km orbit the Hubble orbits at 750km any debris will not have picked up enough velocity to get anywhere near the Hubble. The only danger to the space shuttle is going up there and coming back. Bearing in mind the impact resulted in 2 clouds of debris both of which have the same basic orbital dynamics as the original satelites i.e. we know where they are so fly the f*** around them
Obviously you can't but you can attract them once you have enough bits slow down enough that they will re-enter in a couple of years, ditch them and speed up again. The only problem is the amount of fuel it would take to do this a few times.
Actually I think you will find that most military/Navies use Kilometers on Land and Nautical Miles at see as one is easier for calculating range/trajectories and the other is derived from the global coordinates system to start off with.
fact that they are losing tones of sales because of cheap counterfeit drugs coming largely from china http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7865569.stm most of which are happily finding their way into the medical centers of the west.
Just waiting for them to clone one as I have a sneaking suspicion they were actually stunningly intelligent and only died out because nobody likes a smartarse
Actually since people started keeping records of meteor strikes there have been a number of incidents where people have been struck by them. With injuries ranging from being killed instantly to a bruise on the back of the head.
Actually although some applications are well suited to Webapps others which often seem to get made into them are far too processor/hd intensive. As soon as a couple of people are running processes everybody grinds to a halt.
Indeed this has always been the myth with missiles. Very few ever had any serious targeting ability beyond inertial targeting. I'd be more interested to know how many launch pads they have as bearing in mind all the scare mongering during the cold war the Ussr never had more than 5 ICBM's ready to go at any one time. Oh they had plenty of them but they only had 5 launch pads and the R16 takes over 90 minutes to prep for launch.
Punish them for what? Is it illegal to keep names and information of unclassified material on your personal computer/mp3 players? At worst, it's FOUO (for official use only) information. While it could reflect on your performance evaluation negatively, there is nothing illegal about the release of FOUO information.
If it contains the names & details of armed forces personnel it could very well be defined as a national security breach. The fact it contains a mission briefing & details of equipment would pretty much seal that one.
Sadly the space race died along with Sergei Korolev in 1966 oh it took a few years to grind down but definitely the point the Russians stopped being so innovative. Basically most of the kit they use today hasn't changed since he designed it.
with all this DRM sh1t if these companies massively reduced their over inflated prices (which they have always claimed was because of piracy) but it still costs fortune to buy anything even when it's DRM'd to death.
because most of the exhibitors signed up long before the credit crunch started to bite. I'd expect to see a drastically reduced show next year. But at least Apple might attend for a change.

Actually every maritime organisation in the world civilian and military uses nautical miles if they didn't it would be chaos on the high sees.

Thanks for the info I knew it was there somewhere just couldn't recall what to search for (Getting old).

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19826533.600-early-life-could-have-relied-on-arsenic-dna.html tried looking up some examples of non carbon based life on earth that I'd heard of but couldn't find any however the ecology of undersea volcanic vents pretty much threw most ideas about heat tolerance and toxins being a problem out of the window.

Is lying to Congress illegal? Is it considered perjury?
I hope not I don't think the USA has the prison capacity to cope with that

Ahem I think you will find Sputnik was launched on an R7 ICBM (AKA Soyuz) this is basically the same tech the ussr still uses to this day

The quality of originality is remembering what you hear but forgetting where you heard it
Was that Socrates or Aristotle who said that? :)

Fortunately you don't see nearly as many Goatse, MeatSpin or Twinks links as you used to
